Anybody use a poor-man's strop?

Do you Strop with the edge facing away and bring the blade toward you? Pardon me I've never tried stropping only heard of it.

The sharp edge is toward you. You push the knife. I bring the other side up til it bites then back off a little.

i use my belt all the time. and my strop. but i seem to get better results with my belt rather than my strop...

What is the best to use the back or front of the belt or both?
