anybody use gloves when hiking?

Atlas is another brand with a knit fabric dipped in latex, nitrile, or some other polymer. I think they were designed for marine/industrial applications, but they work pretty well in the woods.

I would have you look at flight gloves like are issued to Air Force fliers. Made of nomex and have thin leather palms. Look for the at places like tactical clothing stores.
