Morning,

I was wondering if anyone uses the Cold Steel Finn Bear or Finn Wolf.

I had a Finn Bear, but my brother wanted it, and I got a nice pair of sunglasses out of it.... down the road we go...

But, I was always kinda thinkin' about getting another one, and now I am wondering whether or not a few might need a quality sheath.

Also, I never have run across one of the Finn Wolves, anybody have one? What are they like?

I've used the Cold Steel Canadian Belt Knife and it represents a great value for the money. The Finn Wolf has a thicker blade than the other knives in the series (3.0 mm compared to 2.5mm).

Yeah, I think that series is very cost effective. I will probably get a Finn Bear again, and I will probably buy a Finn Wolf.

Yeah, I've seen someone beat the MOLECULAR CRAP out of a finn bear to no avail. If it could laugh, it would have. If you have seen one fail I would love to see it. I think Jerry has a video of it, maybe he or Estela know where to find it. I love mine.

What do you like about it Joe?

cheap, easily modified. Not afraid to hurt it.

woops. I hate the sheath though. Would much rather make one or even use ductape, I watched it fall apart before my eyes.

A friend of mine rehandles Moras and these CS knives. One blow with the hammer and the CS handle is in pieces !The Moras took a serious beating before the handle broke :)

Then, I would agree with you, that the Moras are tougher. But, could what your friend does, be duplicated with hand pressure?

In other words, any knife can be broken with mechanical pressure, or a chisel, or a torch. But, these methods are not inside the scope of the work the knife will be doing. A knife is employed, by hand, so it is hand pressure, that we are worried about.

Can a Finn Bear or Finn Wolf be broken by hand?

Well seing the handle material and the lenght of the tang I wouldn't baton with these knives :)

Ooops - my mistake ! The tang isn't that short :D

I don't have either of their Finn knives, but I'm right fond of the Western Hunter, Long Hunter, and Canadian Belt Knife. Wish they'd make them from the same steel they use for their Bushman series.

I've got a Finn Bear and IMO it makes a very nice, inexpensive camp or general utility knife. Sure, its not a first choice for chopping or battoning, but I carry an axe for that sort of thing. For the sort of tasks a knife does best, I think it works very well and I like the shape and size of the handle. Fits my hand very well. I have not experienced any material failures on mine (knife or sheath) in the year or so I have used it.

I hated the handles on the Finn Bear, but really liked the Finn Wolf, left one in the truck. I've given a couple away already. Joe is right, the sheath is terrible.
