Here's a WWII model that I used for a test case a few months back. In order to keep the kamis honest I need to do this once in awhile. I'll take one knife out of a lot every so often and try to destroy it. Although my testing is not as comprehensive as Cliff's it is severe.
While chopping metal (bolts and nails) I damaged the edge of the knife enough so that I had to regrind it. If you are curious as to why I chop metal and purposely try to damage the blade it is to see if the blade will chip or fold. What I don't want to see is a chunk chip out of the blade -- it didn't. Handle held up fine and I couldn't bend the blade. Although the knife is not as pretty as a new one it is still functional and I'll send with it the standard HI guarantee for life. The picture shows the worst side.

If anybody is interested in this knife send an email.
