Anyone actually carry a custom?

I thought I saw a thread about this recently but can't seem to find it.

Does anyone carry a custom or are they put away? Do you carry it every day or only on certain occassions?

I have been carrying customs more and more lately. I don't carry them everyday though. I still use production knives as beaters.
 
Never! I just admirer, fondle, and clean them... Then back into the safe!:)
 
Always! I carry a custom at work as well as at home.I paid for them I might as well use them.:D
 
Unfortunately, my answer is not on the list.

Yes, I frequently do. Not every day, so I can't, language aside, select number one. When I do carry one of my carry customs, I don't baby it, so I can't select number two either.

Easy for you to say. You are one of the premier knife makers in the world. If you want a great custom to use and abuse you can just make yourself one. :D
 
I used to baby my hand made knives.
I only have hand made fixed blades so far. (That'll probably change after Saturday when I hit the Guild Show.:D )
Now they get used just like any of the others.
My feelings now are I originally bought them to use them, not just to fondle and admire them.

When I get back from the Show, your damn straight my new folder will get carried and used. Long and hard.

Now, if I can just decide who I'm gonna get the new addition from.:confused:

no reason to baby it at all.its a working knife,not an art knife.
 
I wear dress knives the same way I wear dress clothes. You try to avoid playing football when you're wearing a suit. It's not that the suit is fragile, or "sacred", it's just more appropriate to put on some sweats.

If I'm going someplace fancy, where I don't think I'll be needing to tear apart any oil drums or anything, I wear a knife that looks the part. I also have knives that ride in various places, like the SAK in the glove compartment, Mini Task in the backpack, etc., so if I do have an unexpected job that might scratch up some engraving or take the etch off of the damascus, I use a knife more suited to the task.

I also have custom knives that are pure users. My talonite Simonich-Wegner lives strapped to my large backpack - hasn't ever seen the safe.
 
"It's a knife not a gold bar." Hell, I've paid so much for some knives that I could have bought a bar of gold with the money. I've never gotten the courage to carry one of my custom knives.
Steve Corkum has my custom neck knife that I thought about carrying a few times. I don't think that I will ever get it back from him to find out.
 
i carry either a dozier personal utility or a crawford fixed kasper daily and sometimes also carry a carson model 4 when i am not carrying my small seb which i know is a high end production folder.....feverdoc
 
I carry ay least one custom every day. Most days I along with a custom folder I also have my Mike Snody neck knife with me. Some days I leave the folder at home and wear a custom fixed blade. These knives are used to do most of my cutting chores, but I also have a POS pocket knife to open boxes that have staples in them.
 
Every day, for everything. Even the production knives I kept for beaters just get left at home.
 
I must admit to owning a gorgeous damscus and MOP knife courtesy of Keith Coleman that spends 99% of it's life at home. Just too pretty and the thought of dropping it makes me :barf:

However, I carry my DDR carbon fiber Dominator nearly everyday. Darrel did name this thing the EDC for a reason :D
 
I have been carrying my large Crawford KFF for some time now. The only time I leave it home is when I get a new knife or when I go somewhere with metal detectors in NYC.

I'll be carrying a custom as soon as I get it - one of those delicious Dobruskis like you posted earlier! 'Cept mine will have serrations.
 
I'm with feverdoc, Dozier Personal Utility everyday. Since I work in manhattan I keep it in my vest pocket instead of on my belt, but it is there every day...got a good workout camping a week or two ago also :)
