Dozier K-1 for me now just about every day. If I'm carrying a folder, its usually a Seb (I know now relegated to the high-end production arena). Backpacking its usually a Livesay Air Assault.

The only time I'm not carrying some high-end (but user) knife is when I know I'm going to have to cut something that is really abusive like sand bags or roofing material. On those days, I'll carry something much much less expensive like a CRKT Mirage with Wharncliff blade.

Dear Dennis- I wasnt trying to spit in anyones face....but if its not a tool then what good is it???? OK...its an expensive tool...but you have to remember....my knife cost me just as much as anyone else TNT... I have to spend a LOT of time making it and then NOT sell it for the money I could get so I can use it instead. :)
Hope that clears things up a little. :

Yes, I find myself doing what Brian does. Multitool and fixed (Dozier) and folder (BM Leopard) in car. Custom of one size or another in my pocket depending upon where I am going or what I am doing. (could range from a small fixed to a fancy folder) SAK in briefcase with a Micra.

They are a joy to use. I do not use all of my customs (fancy stuff or daggers :), but quite a few see use.

I have at least four knives on me everyday, three are handmade/customs and one production each has it's job. #1 is a handmade mini puukko for fingernails, #2 is a custom wharncliff by Art Washburn this is the one I usually have out on my desk at work it does the mail and for cutting out magazine articles and such, #3 is a Carson Model 4 in Stellite and stag does the heavy cutting, cardboard or if I want to whittle, #4 is the production knife either Cuda EDC or Spydie/Walker, this is my food knife because it's the easiest to keep clean.

I was just giving you a hard time Tom. ;) You make great knives. If I could make a knife as good as the ones you make I would carry one also.

Custom knives are about all I carry anymore. I do carry a Chris Reeve Umfaan almost everyday and a Spyderco Ladybug on my keyring, but my main blade is almost always a custom. Like a Mayo, Ralph, or Carson. I say if it has a pocket clip on it, it was meant to be carried/used.

I have no problem carrying a custom folder with me at any time. IMHO, it is a tool and is meant to be used. If I know I will be subjecting my blade to abuse, I will carry a less expensive production knife.

My EDC is usually a custom. It is either a CQC6, a Strider folder or an older Elishewitz. If I go production it is a Sebenza. I also carry a custom fixed blade by Strider, Emerson or Hossom.

Depending on my mood I sometimes carry a Dick Atkinson folder which I picked up for a song years ago at a knife show.

I did carry my Elishewitz Ghost folder when I first got it & I was rotating it with the BM CQC7. I do not carry either one now since they are both discontinued models. Now I been carrying one of the several CRKT folders (Ryan, M16, KFF) that I have. I normally carry these knives on weekends.

"Hell, yes. Everyday" and almost all of the time there is a Mayo TNT in my pocket. The only exceptions are when I know that I am going to be in a crowd (like Disneyland or a concert) and then I substitute a Benchmade/Onion BM690. I would still be upset if it got lifted in the crowd but not as upset as I would be if I lost the TNT. The only other time that I am not wearing the TNT is the once in a blue moon when I have to wear a suit. A clipped knife just doesn't work for me on suit pants so I slip a small decorated Sebenza into the pocket.

I recently got my first custom - a Boguszewski Cobra I asked Phil to make. It instantly became my EDC, but it's so beautiful, I'm STILL afraid to "hurt" it. So, if I know I'm going to the beach, or camping, or something, I carry one of my production Emersons.

I don't own anything fragile. Sure, it reduces the value of my hand made knives, but I enjoy them primarily through using them. I am not psychologically capable of enjoying a knife by just taking it out of the drawer, admiring it, and putting it back. I've had a couple display pieces, but as much as I loved them, I felt they were being wasted in my drawer, so I sold them. One I really miss, but it was the right thing to do.

Most of my "customs" are fixed blades these days. The only hand made folders I have left are the Darrel Ralph Apogees, David Boye folders, and Wood/Irie swing locks. I carry one of the Boye folders almost every day, same with the Apogees. Every day when I get home, the folders go back in the drawer, and the Ralph or Caffrey neck knives get picked up. If I go out, a Mad Dog, or Simonich Cetan, or Ralph ALB, or Dawson Draco go with me.

OK -
i try to save the customs,
(by carrying some factory knives at the same time ) but since i got my first custom i always carry at least one!
IMO if you have your first custom, you will never be satisfied carrying "only factories".

Hey Dennis, where's the option for us poor college students?
Hehe, if I had a custom I would carry it.
Unless it was a custom Microtech OTF...those are just too nice.

I carry a Tony Bose and a Reese Bose knife every day. Wharncliffe Trapper made with 440V and a large single clip blade A-2 steel.

Like it was said before,The money is spent on them! Hell yeah it's going to be carried. I have a Kurt Meerdink Nematocyst that I carry and or a John Greco Avenger. The money that my Wife see's me spend on knives she would freak out more if they were to just sit in the draw! Plus their's nothing like carrying Quality!:D

Got a medium Carson 4 that i carry most of time. Its already gotten a few scratches (the first one is the hardest to bear), but I really feel that the best part about owning a great knife is using it.

If I own it, I have to use it. I carry daily: My custom small TNT, A buckeye Carson m.4 that is pictured in "Knives 2001"[in a custom alligator and leather horizontal belt sheath], and a small damascus and ivory Audra Draper fixed blade.

The Carson on the left of my belt.
Draper on the right.
The Mayo in a kydex neck sheath.

 :D
BTW...If I had to carry only one, it would be the mayo! it sees far more use. GREAT knife.
