I've talked with STR a bit about it and he's really not geared up
for aluminum. From what I've read and he's told me it takes
a completely different setup and longer wait times over...Ti for instance.

I'm looking to anodize aluminum scales of Kershaw Leeks.
Not looking for 1 or 2 but possibly 15-20 pieces.

Any info would be appreciated if someone offers this service.
Or, if you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

mike

Body shops, for cars.... Specialty bike shops (bmxing/Fixie/motorcycle)... My friend has this sweet Bmx that he got done in gold... (It was plated not ano) You can do it yourself as well... Anyplace that does powder coating "Has" someone that can do Ano.
And it will be cheap if it's just a few knife scales....

Thanks for the info petah.

I do need to :foot: first off.
I forgot that plain Leeks have 410 Steel scales, only a select few have aluminum.
Can't believe I forgot that.

So........
I should have done more research on anodizing/plating materials etc..
I just got excited thinking about what the final product would look like
This part of the thread is mute. Sorry guys.

On that note, does anyone know any regulars here that will
plate SS with Nickel or Copper?

Sorry to say this... Same applies with plating.... go to the jewelers in your local mall. He has a plater that can do that stuff...
any body shop.... most bike shops have someone that can do custom plating (Bmx)....
Any custom shop (cars etc)

I'd stay away from nickle...

Why don't you try Ruthenium or palladium? Or maybe even gold (rose come to mind)

Forgot to add ANY ANY ANY watch maker has a plater.

I used to do some watch making.... takes a lot of time and money... buying an old rolex for $350 and then doing some of the work myself then sending it off for the rest.. total (buying and repairing) for a nice date just or even a airking was like ++$$800 and I sourced all my own parts too....
Omegas are super cheap and easy to play with... Patek's ( cost an arm and your soul ) Vacheron (cost your right leg and your man hood)... Breitling ( can of worms )... IWC, AP.... I had them all (most were broke and I fixed them)

all in all A Walter Brend or a Busse ( rarest model ever made) Has nothing even on the back casing of a scratched to hell SS VC... ( 700 bucks for something the size of a quarter and made of steel )

There was an article some years ago that showed how to use Rit dye to anodyse alluminun fittings.

I don't recall exactly how it was done, but the part was hooked up to a battery charger then suspended in a solution of the dye with another piece (electrode) and the aluminum became anodized with what ever color dye was used.

Just a thought, dude.
