Whats up knife nerds!

Anyone here at odds with the shark lock? Ive owned the grivery, g10, and ti versions of the 20.5. The action is awesome! The clickety clack sounds this knife makes aside from the ocassional bearing squeeking are addictive lol. But then there is the shark lock right there stabbing right into your palm. I just cant wrap my head around the fact this knife has a pointy stabby object sticking out of the handle where one would naturally place their hand in certain grips. In pinch grip it pokes right into the index finger, choked up using the choil it pokes right into the upper part of the palm unless choosing to rest the thumb on the blade jimping which is not always applicable, in order to use the lock as a thumb ramp you have to be choked back so far that your hand is around 3/4" away from the cutting edge. I cant bring myself to carry it anymore. Is this now just a fidgit toy?

What are your thought? Am i the only one lol?

It's absolutely awful. You should sell it on the Exchange.

(I love mine.)
Lol I plan to eventually. That or it will be designated as my service van fidget toy. Those longer trips require a certain amount of fidgeting ya know.

I like the 20.5 and don't really notice what you are having an issue with. As you stated they are fun to fidget with. Maybe try to break the edge of the shark lock so I does not bother you so much?

Try an AD20, your hands might be too large for the 20.5 :)

Never bugged me, and I am sensitive to these kind of things. For example, the compression lock on the PM2 is a PITA for heavy use.
That's the thing my knife size sweet spot is around 3" blade 4"handle and light weight. I'm a refrigeration service tech so edc flashlight, pliers and 6 in 1 on person. Weight becomes an issue in the Florida heat and humidity. The ad20 seems too large and heavy for my needs. It may be psychological but still can wrap my head around the shabby lock sticking out of the handle and in order to not get poked I'd have to be that far away from the cutting edge.

I don't think fidgeting with your knife while driving is a good idea.

(I'll trust that you only do so while parked in a safe locale where your biggest problem will be some passerby reporting you to the gendarmerie for being a threat to public safety.)

No problems here either. In my natural grip, when I choke up or pinch grip my thumb or index respectively rest on the spine jimping. Choking up to the choil however is a no-go for me, as there's just not enough room for my index finger in there to not be resting on the edge. I view that as more of a guard honestly on this knife. It might be because you are so used to the Native 5.

when I first saw the shark lock design I thought why is that part in the way. once I got one in hand I realized it didnt create any grip issue I thought it would.

I'm good with the ad20s I got and the ad20.5s......use and like them. I'm not a fidget person, so that means nothing to me.

I don’t mind the AD20.5 Slicer. Works well with a fencing grip. It has a thumb ramp on the spine, where I put my thumb so the shark lock never bothers me.

I used to have a grivory clip point but I gave it away because it was uncomfortable for me to hold, and I didn’t like the scales.
I still gotta try a real AD20 someday, the spearpoints and the new Bowie’s look incredible.

I don’t notice any of the issues you experienced. The shark lock is now my favorite lock. I had to learn to make a few adjustments in where I place my thumb in certain grips but nothing uncomfortable.

I'll be taking her fishing with me this morning. Maybe with everything you all have mentioned I'll see her in a new light 🌄 and possibly learn to love her again 😆

I find my fine in hand to be honest, it was the shark lock sharpness I disliked. When operating the lock itself, I found it particularly painful on my finder and I couldn't get past that.

Nothing here.

My 20.5 Shark Lock/Shark Foot folders are some of my smoothest...and some of my favorites.

*"Medium"-sized hands

To me the 20.5 and AD20 are totally different knives. I did not like the AD20.5……..The 20 is magical to say the least.

Ah yes, Shark Finger. Once you develop a nice protective callus on your index finger, you should be fine.
