Don't you just love the shape of the blade on the Zaan. I can't get over it and it just really does it for me. Plus, the polish job along the entire top edge of the blade is amazing.

I love the blade, I shall christen this knife as inspired by you, Sir Stabby-stab-stabs-a-lot.

Dude!

You know a knife (or any other object) really captures your attention, when you start assigning them affectionate names. Like the Sebenza = Sebbe. Or, the Umnumzaan = Zaan, Umnum or my personal favorite = Sir Stab-a-lot or just Stabbe. So far I only own 1 Sebbe & 1 Stabbe.:p

I'm definately calling my Zaan Sir stabby since he just bit me, and this is the first time in over a decade I have been bit, and this is not even 12 hours owning the knife.

This thing is a beast. What's the zulu word for beast?

Google says inkomo. I'm naming this thing inkomo. I'm putting it away before I get hurt. Again.

Love this post.

I think I'm gonna call mine Bully(or atleast the Zulu translation). I feel like it'd beat up my other knives:D

I would love to hear your thoughts comparing the Umnumzaan to your large regulars after you have spent some more time with the 'zaan.

Without a doubt. I'll tell you this, after a day of owning, my steel sickness is so deep I already want one more, I'm thinking a WC or one without the lockbar stabilizer, just to see if it makes any difference.

After getting any knife it goes directly into my pocket for a week at the very least. So we'll see.

I can already tell it will be a harder comparison because it most definitely is not a Sebenza. As expected I love everything about the Umnumzaan and can't wait for the take down/cleaning kit to roll in.

I feel ya on the steel sickness. I'm about to receive my 4th discontinued Sebenza (three of which are NIB) for a total of two large regulars, one NIB small regular, and the soon to be NIB small P sebenza. I don't know if I will keep them all, or just use one or what. The fact that three are NIB makes it a little harder to bring myself to use them so they might just remain safe queens for a while. My user EDC large regular hasn't left my side since I got it.

I still want a large BG42 regular, Ti-lock and the Umnumzaan! I'm not even going to look at the mnandi (promising myself to stick with non-inlays).
