Anyone Carry One Of These?

I have a Case folding hunter that I got in a trade with a helicopter pilot that sold knives. I used it for 20 plus years for all my deer hunting needs.
It is in it's sheath in my knife box.

I still have the old Utica I used to process my first deer. That was back in 1954. Knife is still shaving sharp. :D

When you get time, I would love to see pics.

My Case 3265 is my favorite wilderness folder. I call it Ole' Yeller.

I still have the 6265 my father gave me in '67 before I shipped out for my first WESTPAC. Both blades are broken and sharpened half to death, but it means a lot to me.

I'm diggin the new/ish Cold Steel Mackinak Hunter. Anyone else ???

The Mackinac Hunter looks interesting, but I'd like to try out the Lone Star Hunter; it's the one most similar to the Folding Hunter patterns in this thread.

My first of this pattern - a single-blade Hunter - was a 1960's era Case XX #6165 in CV from a friend in North Carolina; I traded it for a different knife later. I wish I had a pic of that one.

The second was a 1960's-era Case XX #6265SAB two-blade Hunter. I traded a Schrade LB7 for in it 1985, in a high school english class, of all places. The blades were amazingly sharp, but very worn down. In 2005, I sent it back to Case, and they re-bladed it for me in Tru-Sharp steel. It came back like new; the odd thing was that the secondary blade came serrated. I'd never seen a serrated blade on one of these large Hunter patterns before.

1980's era Case 6265SAB in their CV steel that I acquired here on BF; I sold this one a while back. It was an odd one - different jigging patterns on each side of the scales.

Here's a Buck 317 (early 70's, Camillus made, I believe) that I got here on the forum a while back. It's a great knife, but it has serious blade play in both blades. I'm looking into how to tighten them up. The backsprings are slightly thicker than the blades, so I may have to take it apart and shim both.

Two old U.S. Schrades: 25OT & 125OT.

 Mack.

I had the same knife in white until last year. I turned it, along with a bunch of other stuff, over to my son earlier this year. I figured there was no sense in him waiting for me to die before getting my collection. :p

I picked the white one up at a flea market a couple years ago for $15 as it matched the Stockman and fixed blade drop point Imperials in white that were earmarked for him anyway. After cleaning it up I found it was in great shape.

Now, what I never understood about the two-blade folding hunter is, why would a knife with such an ergonomic and comfortable handle have two blades? With only one blade (like mossyhorns CS on page 1) the knife would almost melt into your hand. I tried using the knife and found that having the second blade nullified that well thought out, contoured handle design.

If you have one, open both blades and you'll see what I mean.

Would that stop me from snatching up another if I found one for the right price? Not on a bet :p

Good point. I don't remember much about my old Case #6165, but I do remember it fit in my back pocket really well, upright next to my wallet. My dad insisted I carry it in a belt sheath because it kept wearing holes in my back pocket.

Here's a comparison shot of two old U.S. Schrades, a 25OT and 125OT. You can see the difference in handle dimensions when the secondary blade of the 25OT is closed. You're right: it dramatically changes the feel of the handle, not just because of the extra thickness.

Recently I was bitching to my dad about a cheap knife that I broke on my last camping trip his answered me was a start using his old buck which is a buck 317 it's now my regular in camp carry its a little too bulky for an EDC but so far I have yet to find a task it can't handle that's kind of saying something seeing as it's a discontinued knife that's 20 years older then I am

I have a Case XX 6265 SAB , but I don't have the case for it and it's way too big to pocket carry .

The folding hunter is my favorite pattern.
I have an old Schrade Walden 225H that was my Dad's and a Kabar folding hunter that was my Granddad's.
Both are well used and stay in my safe.
