anyone carry their large fixed blades?

I live in the Mojave Desert! I guess I should carry my Battle Rat every day!

I mean on a trail. Not at the Sizzler in Downtown Barstow. At the Sizzler they lend you a steak knife.

Ah, but those Sizzler steak knives are terrible! there have been far too many times where I've wanted to use my EDC on a steak. There have even been a couple where I could have used my Battle Rat...

Those steaks got sent back. ;)

Sid, you are kidding right. Do you really think troops in foreign lands are acting out some kind of Rambo fantasy.

Largest fixed blade I carry aroung the city is my 4 1/2" Ed Fowler Pronghorn. No real problems, although I have had a few looks and a couple of comments. I have a 12" Bowie on order from Ron Newton that I just might have to wear to see what kind of looks I get then.

When in the bush I carry knives with blades up to 18 inches, depending on what I am going to be doing. If I am clearing brush I will be using a machete.

I like to carry fixed blades more than folders. When I'm going to need a big whopper of a knife I'll take my Basic 9, but that's strictly in a rural setting.

Around town I carry a medium to small fixed blade concealed under my shirt every day either on my belt or from my neck. It's always one of these: Livesay SOP, Livesay Woo, Rinaldi L.E.O., Greco Companion, TOPS Street Scalpel, or an Alan Blade MEUK. The MEUK is my latest buy and I think it is becoming my favorite. Every time I pick it up I'm just amazed by its workmanship and quality materials - it's simply beautiful... and even better - it cuts like crazy!

I almost always have my greco dangler hanging off a belt loop, and usually a bauchop babychop tucked into my jeans. Ya gotta love the life in the wild west, you can tote around just about anything with no problems.

Ya got that right jeyr!

I love living in Texas anyway, but being able to carry up to 5 1/2" blades just makes it great! 5 1/2" is a pretty darned big blade limit! Not many knives I own are bigger than that. I've heard of lots of places being limited to 3"... that's a darned shame.
