I started trying out carying IWB a couple of days ago and found it more comfortable and convenient that expected.

Anyone else ever cary IWB for reasons other than self-defense?

Any positives and things to look out for regarding a folder IWB would be appreciated.

I used to carry IWB on the job, especially. I had a small Cold Steel folder, 3" blade, 7" overall length. It fit comfortably over my right front pocket and was easier to access than if it were in a pocket.

Although no one could see it, with the clip under the belt, it was not a self-defense knife.

I carry ITWB hunting. The 4" skinner rides in a kydex J-hook sheath I made myself. I cannot even tell the knife is there.

Yup. Like the others, I carry my EDC (a Spydie Persian) IWB. It's just more comfortable than putting it in my pocket. I don't like too many things in my pockets anyway, and IWB is handy, comfy, and just works for me. I do find that it wears out my pants tho.

Untill 14 months ago (moved from a small town to big town) I carried a Gerber E-Z-Out in ATS-34 IWB. Sometimes I would carry my CRKT Stiff Kiss IWB on campouts. That knife is so usefull in the kitchen it's increadable. :)

It leaves more room in your pockets for wallet, keys, change, and candy. It also makes the knife a lot less visible.

I like IWB since it makes it easier to access stuff in my pocket. The drawback is when it comes unclipped the knife slides down your pants leg instead of into your pocket. It also seems to come loose easier when I hang up my pants.

I carry my Spyderco Pacific Salt (full serration)) IWB on my right side, at about 3:30 (behind the hipbone, start of the buttcheek). My main folder resides in my right front pocket. I couldn't put the Salt in my left pocket because it's too wide for me to easily retrieve my wallet or even keys. The Salt is so light and thin that I seriously do not even feel it. In fact, I've sent it through the washing machine no less than 3 times because I forget it's there when doing the nightly "empty pocket and disrobe" routine (good testiment to it's corrosion resistance too).

The only disadvantage I found is potential moisture and corrosion. Before I went to the Salt I had a Rescue 93mm, and I noticed moisture (sweat) and discoloration spots on it. If you sweat (I cycle everywhere, so for me it's inevitable), live in a humid area, or both, you might have possible corrosion problems.

Planterz, how is the Salt working out? No corrosion is a great thing, but how does it sharpen up and hold an edge?

I've been thinking about picking up a Pacific myself. Never had an Endura and this looks even better for about the same price.

Nice topic. Hits home because I am making an IWB carry sheath for the 6.5" fixed blade I just completed. Its for a law enforcement officer customer so I am glad to hear that some prefer it. I was worried it would be too "pinchy" or tight. Anyone have IWB fixed blade sheaths?
