Anyone checked out the BM 5W yet???

Found it! :D

Those are really cool :)

I'm prolly gonna have to get myself one... just to carry around with me...

Been meaning to get myself a small Blackhawk belt pouch to carry surgical gloves, tape, and similar, and thats something htat HAS to go in there when I set that up.

I've been puzzled by one thing about the 5W... I see it listed with and without a sheath, but I have never seen any mention of the little plastic sheath shown in the picture above, just the full-coverage belt sheath. Does it come with both? If not, where do you get the little blade-cover sheath?

Mine just came with the nylon sheath, that one looks a whole lot spiffier. Where can I get one???

YIPPEEE!!!!! it looks like they did it! that retention hole on the picture of Ryans looks squared! it looks like an O2 wrench! YAHOO!!!

I can't believe it! someone finally listened to my whining!

six weeks or so later.....:D

Sorry, never saw your query until today. The first one was a little disppointing, a top to bottom blade play, funky pivot adjustment, the lock didn't feel quite right, etc. so I sent it in about two weeks ago and I was sent a brand spanking new one. Didn't even have to send return shipping...AWESOME Customer Service there.

The one I got yesterday is perfect, tight as a drum, smooth, and the design is awesome. Very, sound knife, and a hell of alot more practical for me than the full sized CQD, even when I carry a Rescue Hook in conjunction with the Dieter. (especially now that it has an O2 wrench!!:D)

only two real complaints with it. The first one is that the handle felt a little too small for my hands (large hands) in a Saber grip especially. I guess it's something I just got used to, cause I really don't even think of it any more.

Second is that the tip down design on the manual version is a little too slow and clumsy feeling for my individual tastes. I'm thinking really long and hard about picking up an auto version to overcome that little problem.

So, if I'm fortunate enough to own an automatic and a manual version, I suppose that pretty much summarizes my opinion of the knife. :)

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

wow...it can crack an O2 bottle, cut a seat belt,or thick winter clothing and then open a bag of chips and a beer...I think my Swiss Army knife has just been replaced!

Mine has just got a nylon sheath as well. Is there someplace I can get one of the new sheaths?

I just bought one of these today and will post a review of it soon. I bought it mainly for use in SCUBA. So far I havn't tested it, but it seems like it would do the job. I'm not really bothered by the fact that mine dosn't have the O2 feature. Besides, your O2 bottle should have one permiently attached anyway. If BM wanted to add something else to the hook, they should add an O2 wrench.

I wonder if a finger could get caught between the slot for the blade.. otherwise, it would be great... perhaps I could finally find a place to put on the car so that my sheeple dad would not freak.

I think it would be kind of hard to get your finger in there, the cutting portion is fairly well protected. A small nick on the finger is nothing to worry about if your in the process of rescuing someone. I'm curious to see how the rescue hook would compare to an Emerson or CRKT "claw" rescue knife. I think in some respects, the BM would be better.

I love this little thing and I don't even have one yet. The first time I saw it was at my friend's knife shop "cool" i said. 'SCHLUCK'...:( a bloody 5w and 3 stitches later i hated it, but grew to like it again...My friend said if anything like that happened again, I would have to buy the knife. :D

Regards,

Steve C.
