Just curious, the recent thread concerning the 110 on eBay got me wondering if anyone has collected a few as a "sideshow" to their collection? I'm ashamed to admit I think it would be interesting to have that one but couldn't bring myself to pay more than a real one costs.

I have several and all but one, I knew were fake before I got them. They make an interesting group to show off.

I plan to pick up a few, but like you DeSoto, I refuse to pay but a fraction of the price of a real one... Especially since there are so many "like new" older Bucks out there that can be had for less than a 20$ bill :)

If you're interested in it, contact the guy and offer him $20.

Couldn't hurt.

I think it would be worth having for most any Buck collector.......unless thousands of them start showing up.

;)

There were tons of them for sale in Korea and Afghanistan. However, many weren't copies as much as just the name stamped onto the "thing". So, those wouldn't interest me in the least. However, if one were to get into the "good" fakes it could be an interesting study. Not for me though.

i had thought about what you said previously ohen...these are not being MFG'd for a few measly 'Bay sales... There has to be a Dist. chain and markets to make it worthwhile... I think the ones showing up on auction sites are the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

This is an interesting one and is actually a pretty nice knife. Even Joe liked it and thought an Alpha Dorado in that size would be a winner. I sent one to him so they could check it out first hand.

The Bay is FULL of the Tactical Fakes.

I'm really only interested in 110 Fakes.....the one in question was a darn good one.

This is the one I thought was real. I knew nothing about striders and when I saw them at a great price I bought two of them. Before I even received them the seller sent me a message saying that he had discovered they were fake and was refunding my money. I didn't even have to sent them back. He had more listed and shut the auctions down and removed the listings so there are folks out there that make honest mistakes.

I tried to but he refused to sell it after someone told him it was fake. Too bad the scales had potential.

there was an idea of a display that was titled
these are not buck 110's
the idea was not conterfits but knock off's or cheep copys

I made an offer, the seller responded he was contacted by another Buck collector who bought it for the $45 asking price.

A person has a switchblade one on another auction site. it has the round button instead of the other type. I got some of those and found out that they where fake and got rid of the local and when I sold them I made sure that the person that was buying them knew they where not real. the person that ows the site says who cares. well I do.

Many are just a random CCC with the buck name on it,
The worst part is that there normally cheap "Tactical" folders.

Now that's funny, I asked him if he wanted to sell it and he said it wasn't for sale if it wasn't real. I guess the statement that he "isn't a knife guy" when I inquired about buying all his BUCKS wasn't true either, (he wanted wholesale to full retail value for used knives), good thing I didn't buy them.

I'm not surprised. I suppose somebody here will be posting pics of his new toy next week.

Any guesses as to who?

:)
