so, would you cut back? maybe one chopper, a couple folders, couple small fixed blades, sell off the rest. i'm sure some would pick based on need, some bsed on value, others on sentiment. i'd keep my villager bgrs and sgian dubh, two or three SAK's, and two or three other folders. if you consider a comparable list for yourself drawn from your current inventory, does it affect you? does it make you gasp and cry "perish the thought!" or does the light load actually bring a kind of relief?

no bills to pay, no shortage of room, no arguments with the wife. no real circumstantial reason. you can have one but you don't need one. if enough people feel having a reason is important i'll submit mine. ain't much of a reason, though.

you're a unique case. i guess you'd keep those five from that 'favorites' pic of yours. i think it was a kobra, foxy, dui and tin chirra, and a gr. of course you've gotten more since then, so it may have changed.

I am doing it now I have some up for sale and will be selling several more. Some will be replaced with other types of customs but part of toys is that you sell some to buy some.

Nope. I avoid the temptation by using and sharpening all my knives immediately. My uncle did that with his guns, and regrets it greatly. My collection has no value on the market. Just the way I like it.

I am getting together some of my pieces to donate to Steve Ferguson for his raffle for Ram.

I think this is an all around good idea, so I am posting for your information if anyone else wants to do the same.

This is a very good cause and Steve makes it easy to "give somethinig back" to the kamis who make these wonderful HI pieces. :D

Steve also told me that the pieces being donated do to have to be HI made. He is accepting 'most anything, but make it something that someone on the Forum mighht like to have. :D

Good on you Bill.

We should do that get together now that the holidays are over.

I'm currently in the process of paring down my possessions. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how one looks at it) I've already gotten rid of most of the sharp objects that I was thinking of discarding. What's left is not necessarily needed, but it is wanted.

I don't need a reason for this.

There are a few things left that will probably get tossed sooner or later but I have some ongoing projects that need to be finished first. Depending on how they turn out they'll end up for sale or with Steve.

3 khuks I would for sure not sell. My 17" Ganga Ram Villager, my 17" Foxy's Folly, and my 16" GK Bonecutter.

I would keep the Gransfors mini, Wildlife and my Reeves Nessmuk among the axes.

I would keep my Chudzinski Nessmuk, my Fallkniven F1, and one of the Scandi styles of my fixed blades.

I'd keep a Microtech LUDT, a Hubertus Camper, and the Hubertus Safari Club out of my folders.

I do pretty regular culls of everything I own (clothing, books, shoes, bags, etc.) in order to try to reform my apparent genetic predisposition towards packrat behavior. I guess I could probably get the blade collection down to maybe twenty or so knives (if it were absolutely necessary), but I wouldn't enjoy it. :)

I'd thought about selling some to get a Carver amp, but I love them too much, and many are gifts I can't part with. Besides, I've three sons and they want their inheritance.

I consolidated mine all onto the shoe shelves in the closet right close to my bed:D Some women collect shoes.........I collect knives;)

That's exactly how I feel about it. My guns are users, my knives also. Nothing against collecters... just, the thing is meant to be used, IMO.

No, I wouldn't consolidate, unless something really bad happened.

Almost all of mine are the way I get them, they go on display or in a storgae container, I only have a few that I use the rest are collection.
