anyone consider consolidating your blades?

i have been spending the last year decrufting. such hard work. so much more to do. not sure why, but a lot of the junk of 20 years stopped having as much value.

i have consolidated my khuks and big blades into a trunk. they just fit. a few are out and about for kata and as users. i am thinking about what to ditch. not so many have value. some might be worth a raffle elsewhere. we'll see.

other possessions, games, books, clothes. i'm thinking about shuffling and shaking it all up. i'm eying a couch or something to lose. don't need it. i think. but i like having it. yarn. i have cubic yards of yarn. must do something with it.

so. the game of decrufting. comes in cycles. stuff comes, stuff goes. some is for looks, some is for having, some is for use.

same with relationships i guess :P

there we are

Besides, I end up giving most of the knives I buy away to friends and family. Rarely is anybody surprised by my gifts anymore.

heh... after clearing my living room of several fish tanks
i decided to consolidate my khuks to take a family pic :)

Mag22, do you know what kind of a pain in the ass that owning a car & living in an apartment in SF can be?? Although that collection could pay for a buncha parking tickets:D .

dont need a car in SF

the bus runs right in front of my apt. complex...
i get on one of the first stops and get off the last stop
i always have a seat and take my 45min nap to work :)

ive been car less for about 2-3yrs now... it always makes me smile
thinking about all the money i saved on gas, parking, insurance, oil changes etc etc etc... :D

but youre right... i could have bought a car :foot:

I learned to drive a stick in SF:cool:
Paid a lot of parking tickets too:rolleyes:
The City has always had good public transit. It is also quite walkable, and, surprisingly, in some parts very bikable. Golden Gate Park on Sundays is closed to cars. Da best:thumbup:
This thread is wandering, my bad...

Hm. My current HI collection is adequate for just about everything:
R7
15" AK
16.5" WWII
17" GRS
Crow
22" Chainpuri

when you add my Spyderco Native and Endura, and my Shane Justice knife, I really have all my needs well covered. Wants? Well, one day I'll get the 14" BDC maybe, and perhaps the Munk Bullet Bowie, but truthfully, if you could only have one large outdoor knife, you'd be hard pressed to go wrong with those middle four I mention, and then a small knife like the R7. :)

John

i like your style, spectre. it's a collection i'd be comfortable with myself. i might reduce the ak to 12", but more or less we seem to have similar tastes.

take care out there.
