Can anyone provide feedback or info on S and S Retail?

They have great prices, but their site 'currently' doesn't take CC. I'd feel better with CC as I can dispute and get the charge waived. They have contact numbers and names, but I've tried calling and have never received a person, just a machine. I did have someone call back eventually (about 1.5 weeks later).

Anyone bought from them? Or can track down where they're located, etc.?

Thanks!

I'm not really a knife guy, but signed up for the forum just to pass along this info.. I ordered a Buck knife from SandS on 5/30, paid for through Paypal. When it hadn't shipped by 6/4, I emailed asking about the status of the order and was informed I wasn't their only customer and they would ship it that day. This was admittedly within the four day window they give themselves to ship an order, but I figured how hard could it be to ship one pocket knife? They're reasoning is that they're a small business and would get to it as soon as they could.

In the end, it didn't ship on the 4th, or the 5th, but finally late on the 6th, although I didn't get the tracking info until the 7th. When I complained, and also mentioned I would be relaying my complaint to the BladeForum thread, the owner e-mailed me to say that they would not be bullied by threats, that I could write whatever I wanted, and I was free not to shop with them again.

So, I guess if you're not in a hurry, and are willing to put up with a lousy customer service attitude to save a few bucks, then buy from SandS. Personally, I think they're destined to STAY a small business. I know they won't be getting another dime from me.

As far as where they are located, the phone number they give on their website is a Raleigh, NC area code, but when I finally got the tracking info on the knife I ordered, it's coming form California, even though SandS said it was in stock in "their" warehouse. Plus their least expensive shipping option is FedEx ground, $8 and something for a 6 oz. knife, plus it's going to take six or seven days. In conclusion, if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't. Hope this helps.

Normally, we let our customers be the ones to comment on boards but due to the nature of this person's post, we felt we needed to respond.

Unfortunately, some people can't be happy with anything. We were a day late in shipping this order and we admit that, it is not common but it happens in business occasionally. This customer was one of those customers that would not have been happy unless they got it immediately. If this is what type of service you need, fine go to Dick's hardware in the car and pick up the knife and pay twice as much. We offer a service where the items are shipped out of a warehouse like most small businesses and from time to time we are delayed more then we would like. And like all the small business folks out there we do our best. Keeping in mind that this person never waited more than 24 hours for a response from any of his requests and he was always responded to in a quick manner. And, yes to answer the question I did write him and said that customers like him who write emails like this would be welcome not to shop from us. For the 1000 other customers we have who get a high level of customer service they expect and never comment I am responding to this discussion.

thx
