Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum!
I am curious if anyone has any information on doing Type II Titanium Anodizing. Type II anodizing produces a dark grey color and creates an anti-galling surface. I'm working on a ball bearing folder and thought this coating might eliminate the need for hardened steel washers in the titanium bearing pocket. I also really like the look of the dark grey color it creates.
From what I have been able to gather online is that the SAE own the rights to the ASM 2488 specification. I guess that means I'll have to buy the document from the SAE (Around $50). The process doesn't seem that much different from Type III Ti Anodizing other than letting the anodizing layer build up until the current essentially drops to zero. I did see some videos online but they leave out the details in the process.
What I'm going for is a dark grey scale color similar to the Sebenza. Other than Type II anodizing, how can you produce this kind of finish.
Thanks
