I Just ordered a CRK Sebenza 21 small to EDC. I have been going back and forth for years and finally grew a pair and bought one.
Any advice for carrying this and getting over the initial what did I just do. Lol

If you bought a small 21 plain and plan on keeping it for a while, then just use it! If you're the type of person who is ok with stuff getting some honest wear, then head over to the Chris Reeve Knives sub forum and check out the thread on worn Sebenzas etc. Might help you get over carrying and/or using it! Enjoy the new knife!

i carried one years ago, and a umnuzman as well. Pretty much had to have them because they were so well spoken of. The fit and finish was perfect. I ended up selling off both though as they just never really did much for me once i got past the ohhh new knife point. Very well made just didn't inspire me to keep them.

are you kidding ? That's at least half of the people in this forum.
Am I wrong ? Is it considerably more than half ? Has there ever been a questionnaire here about that ?

I carry my Small 21 without a clip and in the Small CRK sheath in my right front pocket, and my Large 21 is in my back left pocket every day. I sold almost my entire collection when I got a Large 21. I really don’t need another knife, they are just that good IMO.

Yeah just carry it. The small 21 is an outstanding edc knife. If it hurts you to carry such a beautiful knife here are some tips:

Treat it as a reward. When you’ve been a good boy you get to carry your Sebbie.

Ask yourself; who are you saving the knife for that will appreciate it more than you. If its your kids what do you think they will appreciate more. A pristine knife that you owned but never used? Or dad’s knife that was always with him that has character you put on it.

The bead blast on the handle seems to get little snail trail wear marks on it pretty easily. Once you have your first scratches on there it will be easier. And remember CRKs actually look better when they have been used. There is a thread on here dedicated to pics of used worn sebenzas. Plus you can always send it back to CRK and they will give it a “spa” treatment and return it to you good as new.

My large 21 was sold to a youtube reviewer who was going to carry only it for 3 months and try to beat the knife up before sending it for spa treatment. After two months he gave up and decided there was essentially nothing he could do to hurt the knife short of straight up abusing it.

When I first started carrying expensive knives, I was so hyper away of every single little scratch and mark that it almost made carrying them unbearable. What I did in order to eliminate this idiosyncrasy was get said knife, a large cardboard box, and begin to break it down. After breaking it down, I proceeded to slice it into small pieces. By the time you're a quarter of the way done, it becomes enjoyable and the visceral experiences of slicing crap takes over and by the time you're done, you have yourself a user.

Whatever you choose to do, christen it with flare!

I have a PJ and it is perfect. I would not carry it at work and I would not carry it if I went fishing. But for carrying around while I am on the streets of Vegas, hell yeah.

Open box. Drop on sidewalk. Inspect and declare “Well, it’s a user now!”. Enjoy.
You know as silly as it sounds it works. You're going to baby something until you get over that first drop or scratch. I guess I can't say much about carrying a knife like that but after you get used to the shock of having an expensive thing it gets easy. My most expensive one on the way is a WE 705a , and my current most expensive is a Kizer Sheepdog. First day with that one I took it to work, got it scratched up a little bit and now it's in the usual rotation

Though, I can sit and watch my $1,500 dollar bass guitar fall off of a stand on the floor and not freak out because I know it'll damage the floor. CRK's are tough. Just relax and enjoy the knife.

I've carried two large Classic models, one large model 35, one large 25 and two Zaans for several yrs. Wonderful knives; owned 20-30 CRK's, but down to a couple now... My hand-size requires a large, but the smalls look prettier to me with exotic woods.
I prefer standard slabs with nothing fancy; spider-trails are honorable...not to worry.

It's sort of the Lexus of pocket knives, it's nicer than your standard Camry, it has nice built quality and materials and is gonna do everything you expect it to do, but it's not particularly interesting or exciting. Sort of a "you can't really go wrong with it, but are you gonna be all that interested in driving/handling it when you don't need to" ? (F-Models being the exception)
