Anyone else anxious for Fiddleback Friday, January 18??

I have to take my youngest to a rifle competition later this morning and if you'd like will take some pictures when I return with these knives side by side. The HB and EDC both wear the same scale combo (natural micarta over black with whitewall). My BB wears black on black with blue pinstripe.

The last two knives I purchased wear Andy's tuxedo color combination (F2/3FingerJoe) so I'll include them as well.

I'm not the photographer you are, but hopefully the pix will help in your decision making. If you have specific shots/angles you'd like I'm happy to add those (skill/camera/light ) permitting

That would be awesome if it's not too much trouble. I had the four I have out today doing test shots with each and I know for sure it needs to be a Hiking Buddy sized knife or maybe just slightly smaller for my uses, and with the absence of a canopy the lighting is so bright it will need to be a muted color. These are the four I have available...well the Hiking Buddy isn't really available anymore, but it it would work for this I'm sure she'd let me use it. The other three are just too big for this project.

No worries, happy to help. My taste in knives runs smaller rather than larger and I'll post some snaps when I get back.

Have a good day~~~

The match ran long and I just got home -- light is gone for today, so ill snap these tomorrow before the day gets away from me....

Hi Shamr0ck,

I am interested in the comparison photos as well. Thank you for your willingness to do that and share them with us.

Mark

Mark/Mist - I'll start a new thread and use my wife's fabric cutting mat as a backdrop for some of the shots (that was a great idea mark). Once the pics are taken, resized, annotated and ready to go, I'll add one more post here with the link so that folks in the future can follow along (and link to the other comparison threads Mark has already done).

Heading to church now, then to visit my mom in the rehab facility. I should have enough time before the AFC championship game to get the camera work done

Just got back from church and checking in. That all sounds fantastic Shamr0ck! I can't wait. Hope all was well with your Mom. :)

Well..... Today's visit went long and we got a lot accomplished (taught mom how to use an iPad) and she visited with 2 of the 4 grand daughters. I got some of the pictures done and in addition to the Hiking Buddy, EDC, Bushboot comparison, I also added some other knives into the lineup...

Woodpecker
Carver
3FingerJoe
3FingerJoe
3FingerJoe
BowLegged Belt Knife
Hiking Buddy
EDC
F2
Bushboot
Bushcraft Karda

I need to take the in-hand pictures as well as the pictures from the bottom so you can see the handle profile and scale/liner color combination. Let me know if you'd like me to add the bushfinger into the mix. I have only one 'large' knife by Andy - but it may be nice to have as a comparison since it is such a popular model.

Adding the Bushfinger would be awesome. It and the Hiking Buddy are the only ones in that line up that I own.

ok - so

1) these are overdue and I apologize, my time truly isn't my own these days as my mother is ill and while she is relatively close by, it is making finding time for these things more challenging.
2) I appreciate the amount of work Mark put into his comparison threads MUCH more now -- taking me longer than I'd like to make sure i have the needed pictures and that they get resized and posted.
3) I used my BushBoot yesterday while doing chores at mom's and left it - so no comparison pic with EDC, HB, BushFinger and Bushboot - i'll pick up the knife and redo some snaps
4) I'm not the photographer that Mistwalker is
5) I'll never be a hand model....

The mat has a 1" by 1" grid printed on it for scale purposes

so with those disclaimers out of the way - here are the snaps I have (more will come in a separate thread) which compare the EDC, HB and BushFinger. Again, apologies for the delay and not having more time to take more pictures. Hopefully this will get the process started....

All Three:
Top > Bottom are Bushfinger, EDC, Hiking Buddy

Once I get my bushboot back home and have another office day, I'll finish up the 'maw like' comparison thread I'd like to put together. Again, apologies for these being tardy.

Thanks man, you answered my question perfectly The Hiking Buddy is definitely the route I need to take for my needs. Thanks for helping me clear that up! By the way I like that natural canvas on both of those, and that Curly Bushfinger is awesome!

Hi Shams,

You did a wonderful job with those photos! I really like the hand on the mat idea. I think this is the first time I've really gotten a good idea of how the EDC fits in with Andy's line up. These are indeed beautiful knives!

Thank you for your efforts my friend.

Sincerely,
Mark

I am ready! Who else is anxiously awaiting this weeks batch?! I hope we'll see a couple really nice bushcrafters and hiking buddy's this week. Maybe a hiking buddy to match my maple burl Kephart?

Lets see 'em!

I was when you posted this...and here on the next Thursday morning I am again :)

+1 -- it's always fun to see what is in store come Friday morning. I'm going to wait until the box which is shipping today arrives to snap the comparison pictures as I have seen very few examples of the Snubnose model and even fewer when they sit next to the other more available knives. I'll also add some snaps of the SDKarda compared to the Bushcraft Karda as i don't think I've seen a thread with those two side by side either ...

Is it Friday yet?

Yep, always fun to see what Andy has been working on all week. I think it's been a while since Andy did any Three Finger Kardas, I have been wondering if he will do any of those with tapered tangs. Not that I could swing it now...I'd just like to see it :) Cool, looking forward to the comparison pics

I've been looking in the exchange for a 3 Finger Karda and haven't had any luck yet, but that would be a welcome find

I have been kicking myself in the ass for not picking up one at Blade...having had three chances at that. I was holding out for a stainless version because I want it for close-to-the-body wearing and around my neck. Now I am thinking with all of this tang tapering he is doing that a 3FK with a tapered tang made of stainless would be the ultimate neck knife.
