Got mine a few days ago.
Great price, great value
420hc gets a hard time for not being the latest and greatest steel

Takes a great egde, came very sharp
Thin geometry makes this thing way sharp.

Cool blade shape, very Japanese with a double recurve at the tip for opening packages.

Sharpening choil for reaching full edge while sharpening.

The stone wash is sexy.

Contours on the grn handles feel great.

Parkerized pocket clip. Best coating hands down.

Large lanyard hole feeds paracord with ease.

Detent hole taped in blade for not assist conversion

Great lock up

Quality parkeried USA hardware that doenst strip immediately when doing maintance.

Non aggressive jimping on flipper and grn back spacer

The only thing off was the blade alignment when closed otherwise everything is awesome.

So Where my Link fans at? Post pics and thoughts.

Congrats! Links are fantastic knives for the $$$. I had the FRN tanto and Aluminum droppoint. Fast opening with solid lockup. Would post pictures of them but ended up giving them to a couple friends in need of a EDC blade. Will certainly buy another or 2.

Intensely considering this one as my next purchase. Blade reminiscent of the Turbulence which I like, price, materials and execution. Glad for the detente hole to de-assist in the event the spring breaks.

That's a nice knife. There's nothing wrong with 420hc. It may not hold an edge all day but if you lose an edge just pick up a smooth rock off the ground and you can get a working edge back on it. I'm not sure if there is a steel that is so easy to sharpen and hold an edge(albeit not enough to brag) except 1095, which does slightly better but rusts.

The stone wash, blade shape and handle are my favorites

So beautiful! I love that the model number is 1776 hell yea 'murica.

Quick cut test.

The edge is screaming on this badboy. Cut a can (cringes)

Marked that beautiful finish, but the edge cut great after and the stone wash cleaned great with some Windex.

For $35 this is amazing.

Huh... Never heard of it.
Looks pretty good. Lots of USA stuff on it too??
I like that. USA hardware seems pretty rare to me.
I've never heard of "parkerized" though. Care to explain what it is?
Thanks. :)

Haha wish I could bro, I'm no material science engineer. I'm sure a quick Google search or a guru here on the forums could help.

It's used for coating firearms like a 1911. My experience with it is on Benchmade knives. They offer pocket clips with various finishes, the parkerized split arrow clip has the most durable scratch resistance compared to the cerakote or painted clips.

The hardware looks fantastic and has the same finish as the clip

Great thread. Big time Link supporter here. I love everything about my tanto aluminum version. So much that I'm thinking of picking up the drop point just to have the set.

This is one of Kershaw's best manual flippers. The detent is just right without the torsion bar. My centering was slightly off as well, but I dialed it in and applied some Loctite and it's perfect now.

I really hope people keep picking this knife up. Where else can you get a solid, US-produced knife with an outstanding warranty for $40??

Beatiful, I'm sweating that black wash and aluminum handles. There listed as grey but look more purplish to me (maybe new onset of colorbindness)

Also did your come with that pocket clip?
Other pictures show it with a painted clip with the Kershaw letters filled with white.

Yea, I'm amazed that we can have high quality and value here in the states. Hope its a success and a sign of more to come.

Gerber also seems to be paying more attention this year as well.
2015 has been a great year for budget knives.

To answer both your questions...I have the aluminium black washed drop point version and the handles are grey but do have a bit of a purple twinge to them. The clip on mine does have the Kershaw name outlined in white. Note that the one shown above is the tanto whereas mine is the drop point.

Yeah, they're definitely more on the purplish side.

Oh and mine did come with that pocket clip. I've seen the one you're talking about, though. I've even seen some Links with the American flag on them, like the Launch series.

Y'all gonna make me get a Tanto link with talk like this... My Launch 1 could use a little brother.

I've got the AL drop point and I'm pretty sure it's the best knife I've ever had for the money. Come on 40.00, made in the USA! Everybody should own one.

Mike

Amen Mike.

Kershaw is definitely raising the competition.

What sold me was the design. It's both ergonomic and attractive.

This should be a flagship model like the leek.
With different grn handle colors and blade steel options

Hell, I'd love one with Elmax steel and g10 scales for a c-note

Even just a blackout version with a black wash 14c28n blade and black liners with matching grn scales for $20 more.

In the end though, the knife is great.

I bought it because it was on the cheaper side a Kershaw and made in the USA and it has firmly worked it's way into my edc rotation. This knife is tuff well built and a easy carry kudos to Kershaw job well done on this knife. It deploys fast, grips well in the palm and fingers and seats well in the pocket.

Well, given the blade shape and size, the Knockout (and all of its variants) and the Launch 1 are additional extremely similar options. Additionally, there's the 0770, 0770CF, 0770M390...

The Link is not a manual flipper. It is a speed assist flipper. It can be altered to be a manual flipper.
