Anyone else feel guilty having a favorite knife and not carry your other fine knives?

I have this one particular knife that is my favorite. Its just is my favorite and has been since I purchased it. The problem is I have other very fine knives that, on paper, are just as capable. I sometimes feel guilty I only want to carry this one favorite knife when there are other fine knives that sit on the bench waiting for game time. Anyone else struggle with this problem???

Nah. It just means that my favorite knife "won" the contest for a place in my pocket. All other purchases are contenders for specific uses, and if they don't win they don't win. But it's not a total loss because I may have needs in the future where the less used knife is superior. It will then see use.

I do right now, my CF millie is hogging all the pocket time. today I had to grab my ZT551 just because i haven't carried it since i got the millie.

Until recently no, but a package came about a week ago with my m390 710 and a sway back jack. The sway back has been carried twice away much as the 710

I do struggle with this. I have 75-80 knives in my collection but have only carried 3 of them regularly over the last year or so. I tell myself that I'll carry a different knife everyday to rotate the other knives into my pocket. It never lasts more than a few days and I find myself carrying one of my 3 favorites.

Nope, I don't think knives have feeling, so I don't feel to guilty if I neglect one:p

i cant stop carrying my ZT 0300. every time I try something else it only lasts a week. then its back to good ol' ZT.

I'm getting more and more over time, I had to make a spread sheet to catalog and organize everything. I added a column for who gave the knife to me, and what occasion it was. When I leave this Earth, hopefully many many years from now, I want my kids to have everything, and know the importance of where it came from. If they ever sell any of them, I tell them I'll haunt them forever (maybe giving them a complex but heh).

My favorite has been the new Spyderco Manix 2 XL, replaced my Enduras and BM Griptilian. I try to exchange them out from time to time, but that XL has me bad.

No, because I get bored with my knives pretty quick. Usually a knife won't be EDC'ed more than a few weeks. A month if I REALLY like it.

THe older you get, the more knives you will own, just a fact for knife-fanciers. Just rotate the ones you like.

I Guess I Don't Really Feel Guilty.
I Have 2 Knives I Carry All Day Every Day.
Spyderco Para2 Camo/Satin
Spyderco Manix 2 Black/Black

I Carry And Use Them Daily Over All Of My Other Knives.

No guilt here, I carry whatever the flavor of the week is, of what I just happen to grab. Today its a Spyderco, tomorrow it might be a Emerson, the day after that a Benchmade. A brand new blade will always get more pocket time for a little while, until I get bored with it. Alot of it is also based on the mood im in; am I in CQC-7 mood, or a Yojimbo mood. The only guilty that I have is that my knives do not have more friends to hang out with.

My ZT 0200 has been hogging pocket time since I got it for Christmas. I previously EDC'd a SOG Vulcan for two years, but it can't hold a candle to the ZT. The ZT is so much smoother and more secure that I don't know if I can go back.

Personally, I don't see this as a problem at all. There is nothing wrong with having a favorite knife and for most of us the search for "the right one" never ends. Consider yourself a lucky man.

I Think We All Have A "Favorite" In Our Collection, Or Range Of User Knives.
Sometimes The "Favorite" Doesn't Even Get Pocket Time, But Is Still The "Favorite" For Whatever Reason.
I Happen To Have Three Favorite Knives That I Love.
I Carry Three Knives Every Day.
The Top Two Favorites Are In The Right And Left Front Pockets.
The Third Favorite... Stays At Home And Is Not Carried In The Back Pocket Which Is How I Carry My Third Knife.

So Like I Said, Sometimes The Favorite Doesn't Get Carried. In My Case.. It's Because It's Not Practical To Carry My Third Favorite In My Back Pocket.

Will My Favorites Change Over Time? Most Definitely Lol.

My current favourite is a little ESEE 4. But I seem to consistently carry a Becker Eskabar necker for several reasons. It is small, unobtrusive, lies flat, has a decent enough sized cutting edge, has a fero rod zip tied to it, it's light, it's easy to put on and take off, doesn't scare people because it is under jacket or shirt. It is a bit ugly because I ran a grind stone across the top with a hand drill, to give it sharp shoulders for the fero rod. This thing has seen some outdoor miles and will see many more.

Some of you might feel sorry for the unused knives...

That is because you are crazy. The knives have no feelings. Your favourite one is much better.

:p

Yup. I really only ever carry the Spyderco Military and a few other select knives, so I'm getting ready to sell off the majority of my folders right now. Hopefully I will have less than 10 left by the end of next month.
