The thread has somewhat gone off course here but: You are not crazy man. You like the peaceful quiet beauty of nature. It comes across in your posts and the beautiful pictures you share with us. Most here are probably the same in their love for the outdoors. There are varying levels of involvement in nature within the readers of this forum. Some get out regularly, some occasionally, and some probably just gain enjoyment from looking at your pics from their easy chair. However they choose to do it, that in itself tells you that they have a love for the outdoors just as you do. You are not alone in this desire (need).
Living off the grid is the extreme and not for most IMHO. Living on a few acres surrounded by nature presents its own set of problems but is worth it to many. Lots of adjustments must be made by the city dwellers to be prepared to live out of the city. It's a lot more inconvenient and a lot more work than some would think. Seeing the 9pm commercials on t.v. and running down to get a bananna split is not an option. Neither is running out of nails in the middle of a project and driving to the hardware store!
It would be nice to go back to a simpler way of life but society in general cannot go back. You can reach a happy medium if you are game. It's a matter of priorities.
Either way, keep going on those hikes and posting pictures.
