Anyone else finding the 560/561 a little too large?

After owning the 0560 for a few weeks I find myself missing my 0551! Maybe its just me, the specs looked perfect on paper but once in hand and pocket I'm finding its more knife than I want and need to carry for EDC. Although its slim it sits deep and the handle is about an inch longer than what I find comfortable for sitting and moving with a knife in my pocket.

I wish there was a 3.25" blade version. In the meantime I'm thinking of flipping mine for someging better for my EDC needs. Hey Kershaw, how about a mini 560!

After having both, is the 550/551 better suited for EDC. I have a 561 and find it much bigger then I am used to but with such a smooth fipping action and high grade steel I am trying to like it.

I bought two 0561 and tried to like them.

too large for me too.

sold them both.

I already carry a Spyderco Military, so the transition to the 0560 was no big deal.

Can't say I share the sentiment on the 0560, but hey, to each their own! In the end, you've got to get something you're happy with. I think a Cryo might be right for you when it comes out.

I have a 561 on the way, but i have been carrying a Spydie Manix 2XL for the past 3 months. (absolutely loving it) so im sure it wont be a problem.. im used to big knives.

When in the pocket, the knife rides very low and I agree it is a little long, so if you are bending/squatting it's going to cause a little stress in your pocket. As far as the actual size of the knife for using, it is perfect to me, I appreciate smaller sized knives when they are more collectible and exotic, but for a tough user with great steel.. this is perfect. I'm also on the same page as the guy who said, once you are comfortable carrying a military, everything else is a piece of cake :)

This brown 561 was my first zt, but I look forward to seeing the new protos at Blade.

Quick question to all you folks that have or had the 550. I am thinking of trying to to compare to the Para 2 so wanted to know if...

Is $150-160 shipped a good price for the 550?

Thx. and sorry not trying to hijack the thread. :D

The 0560 is an awesome knife, but if I had a shrink ray I would tune it down to maybe 4.75" closed.

I for one would love to see a knife built proportionally identical to the 560/561, except be more like 4.5" - 4.75" closed.

I tried the 560 and (as I feared) found it to bee just too long for my personal taste, and the 551/550 are a little on the wide side.

I like just the way it is, I've got big mitts. It's about as close to perfections as I've seen in a pocket knife for me.

Nope. I wear gloves a lot (warehouse work) and its perfect for me. Even without gloves I always carried knives with near a 4 inch blade do its fine.

The 561 is not too large for me but I think it's the limit for how big I'm willing to go for EDC. I have very large hands and the 561 is actually one of the most comfortable knives I own and since it's light for the size I think it's perfect. However if you shrank my hand a bit it's entirely possible I would agree with you.

I don't find it too large at all, its just about perfect, although I prefer knives in the 3.5-4in blade range and its right in the middle there, so really I wouldn't even mind if it was a bit bigger. Also I carry larger knives fairly often including a couple different militaries and these...

LOL...the specs; the length of the blade, the total size, it was always there to read...but many could only read: HINDERER flipper! HINDERER flipper! HINDERER flipper!

...Plus all the superlatives spent on the subject here and all over the internet in general. There was a fair amount of hype. That being said the 0560/0561 is terrific knife. I just don't like the handle that much. Too slim for a knife of that size. IMHO the 0200 has the best ZT handle/blade size ratio for my medium sized hands.

I think the 0560/0561 are the prefect size, having them a tad thinner than many may have expected just makes them easier to carry as an EDC. To anyone that thinks that they're too thin for their length should handle the BM Skirmish 630...a 10" folder that is a good bit thinner than the 0560/0561 and all time favorite of many. There's no doubt that there was a TON of hype (from fans of ZT) about this knife and in my opinion, it's amazing that ZT was still able to come through with a knife that most of us absolutely love.

It's difficult for one knife to be the "be all end all" for everyone and this is one reason why we buy more than one knife, I love carrying my 0560, my 0551, my A.G. Russell Acies and my Spyderco Sage 2 and they vary greatly in size.

Mine is on order and I'm excited to see it is going to be slimmer than my 0200. I carry my 'larger' knives in my back pocket (0350, 0200, pm2, even my blur) so being thin is an absolute must. The 0200 loses a little bit of pocket time mainly because depending on what I'm doing, it will make my butt sore haha.
