Damn...just bought a fake Leek...realized it was fake after I paid for it on paypal (noticed it didn't have Ken Onion's name on the handle). Somepeople but "Leek style" in their item names so you know what it is but this guy didn't

Anyone know what these fake knives are made out of? Granted I only lost $13 so it's not that bad but it still sucks that I wasn't paying attention. ANd here I was all excited about getting one for such a low price. Lesson learned.

Was it described as a Leek Copy? I saw that auction too. Sorry you got took, but that is what the seller was hoping for.

There is one seller on ebay that goes by the name iamaknifeguy that doesn't state that the knives he is selling are copies, but they obviously are. Not sure if there are others doing this as well.

Good thing I saw this thread. I was planning on buying a blue Cold Steel Ti-Lite off Ebay since they're literally a 10th what my local knife shop is selling them for. I guess you truly get what you pay for. I had a very 'fishy' feeling about the pictures and such.

The real Blue steel Ti lites can be found for about $110......much less is most likely a fake......AS for the FAKE Leek.....call paypal and stop the payment as it was mis represented......

Ripped off? No, only a bit disappointed a couple of times. Gotta read the whole auction.

I've seen Kershaw look-a-likes (on and off the bay).

Never heard of CS TiLite fakes. I've seen $100 in a store, so I'd think $80-90 would be possible on the bay or the net.

I have never been ripped off on a knife that I bought on eBay, never even disappointed really. I was ripped off by a guy who sold me some counterfeit CSA notes at a decent price, but they were old knock-offs that looked pretty real. I use those as educational tools now.

Yep, bought two striders from a guy in Hong Kong. He had good feedback from knife sales before and had the knives listed as "Strider Sabres" so they didn't get seen by alot of people. I won them for a very good price and had to pay with a western union transfer... That was the big mistake. No refunds on money transfers. Never got my knives and was out about $400. He ripped off about twenty other people all for about the same amount, so he made about 8k in a couple of weeks. He cancelled his ebay user name and stopped responding to emails. Expensive lesson!

Yep...the dudes name is iamaknifeguy....and yeah he didn't state that it wasn't a copy, but obviously i'm to blame also for not noticing the lack of ken onion/kershaw on the handle.

It was only 13 bucks so i'm not too upset...later that day i won a real leek for a pretty good price (34 shipped) so it helped ease the pain....$47 altogether just to get a leek is something I could have done at the local sporting goods store though :(

I'll probably put the fake leek back on ebay and this time say that it isn't a real kershaw....if i can get $5-8 for i'll be happy.

I won a mini commander one time and got a socfk instead. Wasn't the same knife in the discription or picture. -Had to leave neg feedback for that one, and then the seller wanted to get bitchy and act like it was my fault. It is always a gamble with ebay, but in the long run, you can save big money.

yeah i buy clothing on there as well and what I'll usually do is go to the store and try stuff on and then buy it on ebay.

I save good money that way...the waiting for it to arrive part is no fun though

This was actually my first bad buying experience which is pretty good given how much i shop on there.

Hopefully you paid by credit card. Tell your credit card company, immediately and in wrting -- to the special address that it specifies, that you were defrauded and want the charge removed from your account.

Didn't pay by credit card? :( Count this as a lesson.

I have had several sellers baldface lie about the condition of the knives I bought (example: "excellent condition" + "no cracks in scales" = one blade rusted shut, other blades badly pitted, buffed to a fair-the-well, and obvious cracks in scales  This guy was an artists in pictures that hide condition). Interestingly enough, the frequency of problems was greatest with sellers of Boy Scout knives.

These problems would have been greater in number except that I have learned to spot the obvious lies and half-truths used by ePrey sellers ("genuine" = fake; "vintage" = nothing; "probably" = almost certainly not).

ripped off on ebay?? no, but i've heard enuff horror stories i wont fool with them, too many places around to waste my money without having to worry about rip-offs/bogus stuff/counterfeits/shoddy stuff/etc.

of course MAYBE if i saw a knife i REALLY REALLY wanted, and if the seller had TONS of good feedback, and the price was LOW, and the knife wasnt readily available i MIGHT give it a shot but i doubt it, as before just too many other options in the waste your money department to worry with it.

but i might would lol.............never say never.........

I was sold a fake Montblanc pen (described as genuine) for about $200. It took about 6 months to get my money back from Ebay (I got about $180 back). The complaint was easy to fill and everything went smooth, but it takes a long time.
