Not that I dislike them....but I prefer a good quality done liner lock over a frame lock. There isn't a shortage of liner locks available.....but more and more really good knife designs seem to be gravitating towards frame locks.

So am I ahead of the curve that frames have passed their trend.....or am I way behind not realizing it's still the future of locks?

Your take on it? Thanks in advance.

I prefer the Axis lock or Compression lock to a frame or liner lock. Easier and safer to use.

I've been burned out by them for a little while now.

It definitely seems like all the really nice designs were nothing but frame locks for a while, I think things are turning around though.

I really wish there was some more innovation, just something different than a frame or liner lock but just as easy and strong

I like frame locks just fine. Most of my better folders are of this type. Strider, CRK can't be all bad.

A properly designed framelock is a thing of beauty. There are but a few makers that really get it right.

Same can be said for the Walker Liner Lock.

I don't really like frame locks all that much, but that is mostly an ergonomic issue. Framelocks seem to produce thin knives, something I am not always a fan of.

I've got a variety of different locks in my collection, I like them all. I tend to prefer ambidextrous designs, though (since I'm ambidextrous).

Lots of good points and feedback from y'all. Appreciated.

The simplicity of the frame lock along with ease of take down is what draws me to them, that being said they are as of late the 'flavour of the week...or past couple of years'

axis lock > all

I still have a frame lock and liner lock in my rotation though. I had to use my benchmade like a fixed blade for an entire day of hard use cutting tasks (I was the only one with a knife, and we had to cut hundreds of feet of tough plastic drainage mat, gritty caulk and dried mastick). I felt safe letting other people use my benchmade knife knowing that it wouldn't close on them. Cannot say I would do the same with my liner locks or frame locks because non knife people are dumb about knives.

Yep, got rid of mine not too long ago. I'll stick with Tri-Ad lock knives and fixed blades. Went through a lot of frustration before I realized that I had been ignoring the KISS principle. No use for frame-locks or liner locks at this time. That said, IF I ever get the chance to own a Hinderer or similar custom/ semi-custom FL folder I just might jump on it!

If it is simple and sturdy and holds the blade locked in the open postion during NORMAL use of a knife I am all for it if it functions well and smoothly. Some people like some more than others.

I used to hate frame locks and liner locks, But now that I have a few good ones they are growing on me.

Though I still kinda look at frame locks as unfinished liner locks. Another scale on the other side would look nicer in most cases IMO.

I love frame locks! If anything I want to see more of them!

They'll never make a lock I like better than a well executed frame lock(RIL). It and the liner lock are my favorites by far.

This is the truth. When they are done right, and you realize it s right, you can tell when others are lacking in geometry and fit immediately.
