Anyone else hate retention straps on sheaths?

I like a good kydex or plastic sheath that does not require a retention strap. That said, if retention is NEEDED from a strap, I like to have said retention. If the sheath is so poorly designed that the strap is a fuss then I will either get a different sheath, mod it, or not purchase the knife.

I vastly prefer a tight drop in sheath, to a looser one with a strap. So, I replaced the one that came with my Buck 105.

It is kind of silly that CS puts the straps on with the secure ex sheath. But you can cut them off so it doesn't really matter.

They market the MH to military folks, were it may indeed be required. I just wrap mine back around the belt loop and snap it onto itself so it stays out of the way.

I also don't like retention straps, that's why all the sheaths I made for my Nordic style knives have deep pouch sheaths.
Tight and form fitted. No one has ever complained about loosing one of my knives because it feel out of the sheath.
