Anyone else have a Harig 618 automatic here?

Anyone know how this fine down feed works? The lever slides the entire assembly in and out but the knob doesn't seem to do anything when I down feed it (at least, it didn't when I was dressing the wheel)

I think you had it right before you edited it... i think it may be a wheel dresser that's built in. I'm just not sure how to use it. But yeah I'll disassembled and take a look

yup that's what it is! I removed the guard and checked up underneath... yeah this will be really sweet, that's one thing I got annoyed w/ on my old one was the pain of having to dress right in the middle of a part. now I gotta get a .375" shank dresser, mcmaster here I come!

Thanks Drew Riley Drew Riley !

I never had good luck with thoes top mounted dressing tools. I like the ones that stick to the chuck then you know you have dressed the wheel parallel to the chuck. But that’s a thing of the past now, man I love belts :).

Lol. I think I read your question right the first time, but then I saw the wheel dressing comment and thought "oh, he knows it's a wheel dresser". It's definitely an over the wheel dresser, I just figured the diamond point wasn't moving down.

I think those things are a better idea on paper than practical use, not that you shouldn't give it a try. Seems like most of what I've read about them in the past indicated that most guys preferred a chuck mounted wheel dresser, and couldn't quite get those dialed in. You definitely want to make sure your diamond has a good point and that everything is clean.

Will do, I like the idea in theory, hopefully it works in practice but if not then I have a traditional table mounted one :)
