I dare someone to go back the last 10 pages of threads and count how many "I ordered an RCx" or "What do I do while I wait for my knife?" or "It's coming!" or "It's here!" or "I love *insert knife here*!" threads, and how many threads with actual content we have. Maybe we should make a sticky for orders/new knives/waiting so we can centralize all the fluff and make the actual important data easier to find and more easily accessible?

Well I agree with you.

And to be honest... a topic with a title like that i dont even open :D. I keep my mouse on it a few sec to see if there is a

Well, I actually agree with you. I also started a thread to that effect ( http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708140 ) although I took a different tone :D. It wasn't well recieved, and I hope this one is. My primary thought is this: This sub-forum cannot achieve any real longevity with the same crap being posted every day, all day. I rarely visit here anymore as a result. What is the point really? Same crap different day...... The path to stagnation isn't pretty.

I started a "haul" thread where you could post things you've got recently (including ESEE stuff) but it didn't catch on:D

I agree with the thread starter. I don't get the whole ooh-I'm-so-excited-that-I-think-I'm-going-to-€&%-in-my-pants type of threads either. Who cares?! Contribute to the forum with your posts or don't post at all. This forum section is way too cluttered. I really like ESEE and would like to be able to find useful information here and so on, but I have stopped coming here often because of all the BS threads which clog up the pages.

Personally, I don't think someone who saves their money for weeks to buy one of our knives then posts it on the forum becasue they're proud of it is bullshit. They have as much right to post about something they're proud of as anyone else. Period.

Ditto! I see so much potential here too!

I'm not trying to hate on the guys who DO start these threads but I think if we focused more on the adventure travel, product development and in depth survival issues instead of the same exact pictures of the same exact knives (we have an awesome photo sticky that I frequent often...) being posted every time someone recieves an Izula, we would all benefit from the information more. I'm simply suggesting there be a sticky to compile all this stuff into one thread instead of choking out all of the real meat of the information that's out there. I don't want it to disappear, just take up less space, stop dominating this forum. It was a suggestion, not a hate thread.

I agree, I think it misses the point though. It's not to suggest they shouldn't but that it could be organized differently so that we could enjoy new and interesting material without seeing page after page of "I got my new knife". So that this could be a forum about what ESEE stands for. All we're suggesting is that the organization could be different, allowing for new and original posts themed after survival etc could be allowed to flourish. Discussion could take place again...

I'm a mod here and I check threads every day that I'm not off doing soemthing else. It's pretty easy for me to see which threads are as you say and which thread need some feedback. I just don't see the difficulty here. Usually the skills based threads are labeled as such so those draw the interest. The "new knife" posts stay on the front page for a while and then dwindle to the background.

One other point I'd like to make is the mods work regular jobs and do a great job here when they have time. To "organize" threads would just about become a full time job.

Yes but we get 5-6 of them a day, so no matter how quickly they disappear they still dominate the topics. I realize you and all the other mods have fulltime jobs and I'm not trying to disrespect that, or the fact that this is your forum, I just think the trips and photo and skills and advice threads should be the forefront, not burried under 3 pages of this stuff within a 12 hour period.

I'm "guilty" of posting a "look what I just bought" thread. Oddly, it is where I posted about jugline fishing too.

Also, I don't mind having to go to the second page to see what is new. Most threads don't stay at the top long; if you want them to go away faster don't post on them.

Wow, is this all we have to worry about today. Spending time on this thread instead of more usefull threads?
