So I may be embarassing meself a little, but here it is:

I like to carry a knife on my belt (on days off work: the company don't care much for 'weapons'... weanies!), but I have, in my aging and slighty more sedentary years, gained a few lbs, and a rather unsightly set of the infamous love handles. I have noticed that returning said knives to their sheaths while using them creates now a certain hazard of the stabbing variety.

Am I alone in this? Also, anyone actually had the experience of wounding themselves in said manner?

OH YEA, a lot of us have that problem. I like to carry a fixed blade but I also have to be carful resheathing my knives.

The easiest fix would be a cross draw sheath. I find them more comfortable to use in general.

When resheathing, if you feel a sharp stabbing sensation in said "love handle"...that's a pretty good indication you missed. LOL.

How about a drop leg sheath?

I don't have that problem, i rarely carry a fixed blade. Sounds like it's time to change sheath orientation. cross draw is a nice setup.

P.S. I have been losing weight lately and my next knife purchase is tied to me losing my next 5lbs. Just some more incentive to keep me on track.

Thats how I have my Rat 3 set up in a horizontal sheath, cross draw and i really like that set up. I am not that big, but it is still a better set up for me. In fact I am going to make some sheths for some of my other knives in either horizontal or canted forward.

Same here, just gone w/Danglers & Crossdraw!!! You ask x-draw, yep it allows the hilt to stick out but yet still allows it to set high on a belt line, ie riding horse, 4-wheelers etc.

I like dangler sheaths. I made this one with 2 belt loops so you can situate it on both sides of your pants belt loop. This way it won't move.

I'm curious, is the issue having the fat roll get in the way of the blade...or...is it that you can't see the sheath because of aforementioned love handle...or....a combination of both? :D

Don't wear your belt so tight, and sell your log splitter and use an axe. Cut this years wood and next years at the same time and stay away from the goodies and you will be fine.:D
