Always liked them for some reason. Jason movies, Dawn of the Dead, 28 days later, ect. Anyone else like them? Your favorites? Do you play with blades while you watch?

They be my favorites!

Dawn of the Dead (1978 and 2004)
Shaun of the Dead
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1, 2, 3, TNG, and 2004)
Dreamcatcher
Friday the 13th series (minus Jason X, that sucked)
Nightmare on Elm Street series
Freddy VS. Jason
Hellraiser
SAW
Exorcist movies
28 Days Later
Day of the Dead
Evil Dead

...
Oh there is just tooooooooo many.... It's my fav genre.

Zombie movie fan here. Although i prefer the 80's stuff by Fulci.

I don't play with my knives while i watch though.

Dawn of the Dead all versions

Night of the living dead

Day of the dead

28 Days later

The Omega Man

Not a fan of slasher movies.

I love horror movies. I know it's not a zombie or slasher flick, but Dog Soldiers was pretty good. Good story, good action, good acting, but subpar special effects, although I've seen worse. Overall, I enjoyed the movie.
"If Little Red Riding Hood shows up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the bitch"
I'm going to have to rent this one again now. :D

Of course I also liked Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Jeepers Creepers (up until the end). Actually, I hate the end of most movies I see lately. Either it seems like they leave too much out, or try and go for some goofy "twist" ending that just doesn't make any sense and ruins the story.

I haven't seen Resident Evil 2 yet, but I did see RE1. If I remember right, some heavy hitters (Carpenter? Romero? Hooper?) were originally going to team up to make it, but that fell through. So we got a movie with run-of-the-mill zombies and some scabrous Dobermans and one (ONE!) llicker.

What I wouldn't have given for just one camera shot dashing madly down a darkened corridor towards a closed door, which suddenly slams open to reveal a TYRANT.

I just finished reading I AM LEGEND when i came upon The Omega Man on TV. It just spoilt everything. It was just so bad. I think if i hadn't read the book it wouldn't have been that bad but I did and i at least expected him to be a normal guy instead of someone up in a posh apartment in a smoking jacket.

My favourite slasher of all time is Michael Myers. I just like the idea of him being this uncurable evil kid and then grows up to be the greatest slasher of all time.

Anyone here seen Cemetary Man/Della Morte Del Amore?
That was a super cool zombie flick.

There's also Peter Jackson's earlier stuff like Bad Taste and Brain Dead. Great movies.

I think the problem with a lot of horror movies now is that Hollywood lets some second rate music video director direct the movies.

Luckily we all have Land of the Dead to look forward to. My highlight of the year. I'm more excited about it than Revenge of the Sith.

My favorite zombie movies, in order:

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Day of the Dead
Zombi
Night of the Living Dead (1990) (Awesome, very underrated zombie movie.)
28 Days Later
Return of the Living Dead
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Cemetery Man
Shaun of the Dead
The Omega Man

yes i do play with my knives when i watch slasher movies, but they keep asking me to leave. :D R.E2 has more lickers in it and more Milla ;) ;) at the house i play with my knives to keep from getting scared!! :D :D i need to find me a copy of 28 Days Later.

No doubt, I want to see a HUNTER or two. The things have freakin organic Spyderco Harpys for claws!!! And IMO were much more dangerous than the lickers. How much of a threat is a monster that has it's brain exposed? A good shot with a .22LR would drop it. The Hunters had to be dropped with a 10 gauge.

I want to see a cross between Tears of the Sun and Dawn of the DEAD 2004.

A crack team of Spec Ops with full weapons loadout vs 1,000 zombies. :D

Night of the Living Dead (the original, the 1990 remake sucks) is one of my favorite movies ever (probably second to American History X).

Carnival of Soul is a pretty underrated horror movie.

It's not a zombie flick, but Embryo is a good horror/sci-fi film.

Its a remake so you ight want to check out the black and white film with Vincent Price. CAn't find the name on IMDB. Just saw it on Cinemax a couple months ago when I recognized the storyline.

Love his Dr. Phibes movies. DO they count as zombie slasher films? If they do they are at the top of my list.

I believe that movie version of "I am legend" was called "The Last Man on Earth."

I'm pleased to see others appreciate "The Omega Man." Charleton Heston was good in the role, given the obvious story deviation from the novel. I'm going to have to pick that up on DVD. I saw it advertised in a multi pack with "Soylent Green."

I'm not sure if the Dr Phibes movies would count as slasher/zombie films. But hell, neither do "I am Legend' or "The Omega Man," but they're good sci-fi / horror fare. The Phibes movies are wonderful campy pop horror. Plus the over the top performances of Vincent Price.

edit to add:

"The Last Man on Earth" is listed as "L' Ultimo uomo della terra."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058700/

"Trivia: Although Night of the Living Dead (1968) is often considered to be the first of the modern zombie movies, this Italian film predates it by four years."

So, some do consider "The Last man on Earth" to be a precursor to modern zombie movies.

I am legend , was one of my favorite books when I was a kid. Isnt it odd ...? I have always enjoyed movies or books that dealt with "the end".. That concept scares most people to the point that they avoid anything that might make them ponder upon it.
Slasher films , I will watch but if I miss one I'm not bummed , zombie films though I go out of my way to see lol. IMHO The newest DOTD is the best , I have watched it several times over , favorite character is the Mall guard jerk/turned pretty cool guy. The rich snobby guy is pretty funny too.
Some of the older Italian jobs are really creepy , but I find them slower paced and a little boring at times. Land of The Dead is going to be so... badass.. I cant wait , I forget that SW is even coming out , hehehe.
Other favorite horror genre is vampire and werewolf films , moreso werewolf.
Howling , AWIL , Ginger Snaps.... Vamp films , IWAV , Underworld (although werwolves are cooler than phaggy vamps!! :D ). Too many to name.
I think zombie films rule because when I wake up in the morning I can totally relate to them :D

I just ordered "The Abominable Dr Phibes" and "Dr Phibes Rises" on DVD from Amazon. Found them for about $7.50 each, new in wrapper.

They're also selling both films on a single DVD for under $14.
