Anyone else like Zombie movies, Slasher movies, ect....

I love the George Romero films of course. But I have to say the new "Dawn of the Dead" was the most terrifying and distrubing horror film I've ever seen.

"Shawn of the Dead" was good for a few laughs, but it really lost it's vision towards the end when it became graphically violent and serious - out of context with the start of the movie.

"28 Days Later" was good, the best zombie movie in a long time, until "Dawn of the Dead" came out.

Dr Phibes movies are good too. "Carnival of Souls" is one of the most haunting movies ever, but not really a zombie or slasher film.

The first "Friday the 13th" and "Holloween" films were OK, but the whole slasher-flick thing became very boring, very fast. Seen any three of 'em, you've seen 'em all.

I do like the whole last-guy-alive theory. There's an old, old book called "The Purple Cloud" that I recommend if the topic interests you.

Best Wishes,
Bob

My Blair With Project story.
Out of line with slasher and zombie films but still...
When I heard rumors of this film I immeadiatly became interested since I love hauntings and unexplained stuff. I went to the website and knew ahead of time it wasnt a true story , etc.
Then I went and saw it , daytime and all that. I walked out of that theatre feeling like I had been dreaming for 1 plus hours , I felt... spooked I guess hehe. Went home and felt even worse , opened up the blinds which is odd because I'm not much of a 'sun' person , wound up really freaked out for about a week , slept with my big maglite and my 9mm , had bad dreams , woke up thinking someone was standing in the corner... ugh.. Every time I see it while flashing thru cable channels I go pas even faster , I have no desire to see that film ever again. Freaked me out @!@@

I'd agree with that. After "Halloween" there was a glut of "day" movies - "Happy Birthday to Me," "Graduation Day," and so on ad nauseum. All the same plot. The typical relentless antagonist. All basically the same updates of "Der Golum."

I'd like to ad the following:

"Alien" - Not so much of an action flick as "Aliens." Much more of a horror flick.
"The Hills have Eyes." Cannibalistic desert dwelling freaks. Akin to "Wrong Turn" (another good horror flick."
"The Excorsist." - great possession flick.

I liked "Wrong Turn" That was a good one especally with Eliza Dushku running around in it. Also liked "Dog Soldiers" And "Dawn of the Dead" Remake and orginal. "Freddy vs. Jason" was a riot. Resident Evil was another good.

I'm another fan of horror. I just watched TCM 04 for the second time, and I have to admit that the original one was better, but it was still a good flick.

I also thought House of 1000 was good as well, but its one of those you either love or hate.

Here are some that I enjoyed:

28 Days Later
Dawn of The Dead
House of 1000 Corpses (?sp.)
Shaun of The Dead
Wrong Turn
Shockwaves (has anyone other than me ever seen this movie?)
American Psycho
Cube
Omega Man
Dagon (not great but not the worse either)
Friday the 13th part II (really the very best one IMHO. The sack over Jason's head is much more disturbing than the hockey mask. And it had the very best ending.)

I would love to see a remake of The Hills Have Eyes.

Cheers,
Allen.

I'm curious, why?

I guess I just don't understand the current trend of re-making movies. YYou stand a snowball's chance of doing better, and a much greater chance of totally screwing it up.

I guess as long as Tim Burton doesn't do it, it may stand a chance!

I agree. This is the only FT13th movie that ever got to me.

I watched "SAW" last night, and it was good, but......different.

I just ordered "The Abominable Dr Phibes" and "Dr Phibes Rises" on DVD from Amazon. Found them for about $7.50 each, new in wrapper.

They're also selling both films on a single DVD for under $14.
soLD!!

Thanks for the heads up.

Paul

Just saw the DOD remake and it was great. Most realistic portrayal yet.

Ya, but I so wanted them to break out a minigun and open up on the crown of undead. :D

I just realised in all the Dead movies

There's 1 black guy who survives with a white chick. Well the first one the guy's a hero but some redneck shoots him.

That means in all the dead movies including the remake the hero is the black guy.

I'm not being racist or anything but just an observation.
