Anyone else not like metal handles?

I found my BM 750 Pinnacle yesterday. I had sealed it inside a box I packed away 3+ years ago. The blade and handle are discolored from tape adhesive, but I'm going to have it refinished. Using it for a few minutes reinforced my opnion that I just don't like the feel of metal handles. I much prefer Carbon Fiber, G10, Micarta, even FRN. No metal frames with inserts of these materials either. Except for my fingers on the blade/choil, I don't want my hand to be contacting ANY kind of metal! I just don't like the 'feel'. Is that weird? Anyone else?

Yes and no.

I'm not really afraid to drop or throw or otherwise damage an all metal knife. It has a real good weight to it and I like how secure it feels in my hands.

But then if my hands are sweaty, it can get slippery. And I'm not really a big fan of dropping my knives as I did this yesterday and it ran along my finger, giving me a nice cut.

I have a Kershaw Leek and it's coated in titanium nitride. it gives it a bit more of a grip and protects it from hand sweatgrime. i think this is the perfect balance between metal and wood handles.

I don't like the cold soul-less feeling of metal handles, but plastic doesn't do much for me either. Natural is the way to go! Too bad many knife models don't come with the option...

I have many folders with metal handles and I don't mind them at all because I'm not using my folders all day long, but usually for a quick cut here and there. On the other hand, I've tried metal-handle kitchen knives and those I don't like because I do have to hold them for long periods and use them when wet, slippery with fat, etc. In that case, the metal doesn't work well for me.

Wood, kraton, thermorun and such are my favourite handle materials. Not too fancy, just functional. Micarta, G10 and such aren't particularly my taste, but I don't mind them at all. Paracord is ridiculous in my view, though. Metal handles are a major no-no over here, where the temperature tends to get seriously cold in the winter. You wouldn't want your knife freezing your hand.

I actually prefer metal handles on my kitchen knives. Makes them ridiculously easy to clean during cooking when the handles get greasy.

Outside the kitchen, I'm partial to G10 or stag.

I like the look of metal better, but really don't have any real preference for the 'feel', except for Spydies. I don't like the FRN Spydies for some reason, so I get the SS models (except for the Centofante 4).

I do not like S/S handled knives at all.
The few Titanium handled knives I own have a good texture that feels gripper , I assume if the same was done on S/S it would not bug me.

i love metal handles...... its the frn, zytel, plastic and some G10 handles i hade because the just feel cheap. Of the Metal Handles SS is my least fav but i love titanum. to each their own i suppose.

By the way you are welcome to "donate" that BM 750 to me if you want

I can pretty much like any knife handle. For SS, I like the weight it gives.
If you drop it, it will usually land handle first. Which is great, as it saves
blades tips. :)
I lost a Delica once when messing around a large wooded area. Alot
of moving around and it came unclipped during the walking/climbing.
Retraced but never found it.
If it had been stainless, I probably would have felt the weight leave
my pocket or at least heard the rustle of leaves or something when
it hit the ground.

You can add me to the "don't like metal handles" list. Stainless steel, carbon steel, titanium, aluminum, polished, satin, painted, anodized, textured, checkered. I have tried them all, and I carry none of them.

My only complaint with all metal handles is the balance. Usually, all metal handles are way handle heavy. Case in point; the original Spyderco Police. That all stainless handle was way heavy. When they finally made the Police with a carbon fiber handle, I jumped all over it, like a fat kid on a Twinky. :)

I like titanium handled knives like my bm 635. Also like my osborne 940 (alum). My personal fav is g10 just because it is tough and doesnt scratch up easy. Titanium handles look really nice on a well used knife though, just dont like the first few scuffs. I never have problems with the grip because i dont tend to push that hard when im cutting so I dont have that slippage issue. Its just a feel aesthetic thing for me=)

I'm with you, I can't stand metal handles. Any moisture on your hand makes them slippery as hell - dont know about everyone else, but when I've got something razor sharp in my hand I prefer to have a decent grip on it.

I don't like them much. My favorite handle material is rubber. I'm surprised it's not more popular.

Metal looks bleak and when hot or cold or wet is very unpleasant to hold!
Get a grip:D

Doesn't matter much either way to me---I regularly carry Buck 110's--112's --a 501(metal/wood)--------------------a BM 5000(metal)---BM Griptilians(plastic)----Spyderco Endura's(both plastic and metal)

Just really doesn't matter to me.
