So I went out today to buy the 0301 and have it for a few hours now and am going back in a few minutes to return it. I might be crazy to some of you out there, but I just don't like it. Anyone else not like this knife?

I am loosing my mind!

I don't really like any of the ZT line.... Too "busy" I think, silly designs, yet unspectacular at the same time. They *look* like Chinese gas-station knives to me.

this is the only one I don't like. I have to others and love those, it is just the 0301 for some reason.

How does the Benchmade 630 Skirmish knife stand up to it? Has anyone compared them before?

how long is the blade on the ZT? Some websites say 3.XX" others say 4.25". Is it that its 4.25 long but only sharpend along 3.XX"?

What specifically don't you like? Personally I don't like the stripes, and both the green and tan G10 are not my favorite colors.

I do like the digicamo and carbon fiber versions done for T.A.D., both also without blade stripes.

Yeah, right...what's busy other than the stripes? Some specifics about design silliness other than appearance might be in order? Sounds like mindless bashing to me...everything is not designed like a puukko...

You must feel the same about most Striders since the 0301 and 0302 get most of their visual cues from them apart from shape...

The plainer special-edition 0300-series ZTs made for T.A.D. are much more appealing visually. Again, I'd be interested in hearing what you think is silly about the design other than appearance?

Functionally the knives seem fantastic to me...they were designed to function, not appear spectacular.

I not quite sure you see anything like the 0500 MUDD knife in your local 7-11 or Chevron, but yea you can find the 0100 and 0121 fixed blade pattern at every fill up station you drive into.

I'm sure Mr. Onion, Mr. Galyean, Mr. & Mr. Hawk, and Strider get these compliments on their designs regularly.

I like the stripes, but I do not like the overall feel I guess. I know it is very ergonomic, but I think the killer could have been the blade, it is just so wide!

I traded for the Al Mar SERE 2000 instead. I like this WAY better than the 0301. I am not saying I do not like other ZT's, just this one!:)

Yeah...I can see where the wide blade might be a turn-off for some...

I pretty much like most blade styles and just love the ruggedness of these knives!

The Sere 2000 seems to be a fine liner-lock, and costs less so you get the additional savings benefit. Enjoy! :)

OH, am I enjoying it so far. I can tell I am going to be carrying this for a LONG time!:D

Have you tried a ZT 0200 yet? I have a pair of 'em, and the ZT 0200 is my all-time favorite folder. (I've had a few of the Al Mar SERE 2000 over the years, and while it's a very nice folder, the blade just seems alittle too small for the large-sized handle.).

How does the lock compare between the 0300 & 0200? I'd like 0200 blade style on 0300 frame style. The 0300 lock looks like the beefiest lock ever right?

It's just personal preference, I guess. The blade finishes, funky handle shapes, dramatic blade shapes, etc. They might perform just fine, and feel alright in the hand, but I just can't get past the looks of some of them.

I don't like the 301-302 or 200. The handles and everything are great, but I hate recurves. But make them a drop point, and they would become awesome.

I've had my 0301 for a while now. Fits my hand perfectly, I really
like the large blade. I could do without the stripes, but
I have grown used to the recurve blade and have become very adept in sharpening such a blade.
I like the G-10 and Ti handles. Rough, but not too rough. The framelock is rock solid.
The shorter pocket clip rests nicely in my jeans unlike my
Millie or Tyrade which are twice as long and get caught on things sometimes.
I still alternate EDC's on a daily basis. BM975SBT, Millie, Tyrade, ZT, SS Endura.

I never thought of it to be silly looking or like a gas-station knife though. meh, to each his own.
Hell, most of the gas-station knives I've seen are knock-offs of Delicas, and I own a few of those as well.

Sorry you didn't like yours.

ZT gets my vote.

Seems a little harsh to say, but to each their own, and we do have our own taste's in things. Personally, I find the ZT0200's grip to be outstanding for me, and the ZT0500 has readily become one of my very favorite knives. Handle and blade function very well for me. I do have to say that I've NEVER seen any CCC (cheap chinese cutlery) that looks like ANY of the ZT line.

I'm not a fan of the 300 series, but only because I am not a fan of the G-10/titanium construction method that has become so popular. If the ZT0300's came with two titanium handles, or with two G-10 handles, I would have one as I definately love everything else about it.

I have both the BM Skirmish and the ZT302 (coyote brown version)

The Skirmish is more practical for me because it is slimmer for carry.

The ZT302 is quite stout - I would definitely expect it to be tough and last a long time.

They both are ground way too thick at the edge....my Skirmish is now reground thinner....and I need to do the same to the ZT.

The biggest drawback (for me) about the ZT302 is the awful clip. It is too short, too stiff, too thick...too textured. Ken's got some explaining to do....:D

The rest of the knife is Excellent!!!

Cutter, please don't take this the wrong way, but I can't quite understand the logic behind your last post. You say your not a fan of G-10/ti handle combos, but if they came with matching handle sides that you would love everything else about it??
If that's your only gripe with this model, (aestetics). I can't really see or understand where your coming from. It's a knife, not a fashion statement. AR

The ZT0200's lock is basically a frame lock underneath a G10 scale...beefier than any normal liner lock.

The ZT0300 has one of the beefiest frame locks around, yes. :)
