Anyone else notice these two things about Spec-Ops?

First, the Survival Sheath literature - That's an E-series blade in the sheath! :) (Probably a SH-E.)

Second - anyone get a recent order from TAD Gear? I got 3 Survival sheaths and one Master Combat. ??? Not that I mind. I'll take the nicer sheath, but it was odd. I guess they are just filling with whatever they can.
 
The Combat Master is considerably less expensive. If I were charged for a Survival, I would be asking for some $ back.
 
TAD gear has take FOREVER for me. I paid for 3 days shipping and that was two weeks ago. They charged me yesterday for the stuff.

It's a shame. I used to recommend them constantly. Their customer service seems to have suffered recently. No notification if items are back ordered, so on. Hopefully they get back on track. They have great stuff and used to ship very fast.
 
No. I paid and asked for CM's and got Survivals. I put in my comments at the end of the order that if they didn't have the colors I was looking for to get me anything. This musta been anything. ????

And yes, their CS has been BS for a bit now. I ordered these on 2/1. They had me pay (paypal) on the 15th and it took til today to get here. (They didn't ship til last the 18th - seemed like on my order for Paypal they had everything listed w/replacements - took them an extra day+???)

But the prices are cheap. I don't order often. I didn't need these ASAP.

Yeah this has been my first dealing with them in a long time and I am not impressed. I love there selection and there prices arent bad, but if its in stock it needs to ship in the time you paid for it. I dont feel like fighting to get my shipping back.
 
I got 3 Spec Ops sheaths from TAD Gear lately and went through the same thing with them, waiting until they got back to me on the PayPal, then waiting a pretty good while for them to ship. Luckily, I wasn't in a hurry either.

Also, I did notice the SH-e (?) in the pictured sheath - thought that was pretty cool. :D

Yeah, I noticed that too! I was quite impressed. Made me want to get an SH-E though...

I've never dealt with TAD Gear, but the stud fastener on my survival sheath's pouch ripped out the other day. I emailed Spec-Ops directly, sent them a picture, and a replacement is on its way already.

Now that's customer service.
 
I placed an order for a Combat master a few days ago along with some other stuff. Hopefully they'll send me a Survival sheath instead :o
 
Both Combat Master and Survival are very good sheaths. I use them for at least 5 or 6 of my knives (customs, Reeves). Oh, BTW, Patrick is a great guy, and I've never expirienced anything less than great CS with TAD.
 
I've dealt with TAD a lot in the past...but have stopped buying from them for the very reasons being discussed here.
 
tad has been overwhelmed with an unexpected increase in volume of orders the past 4 months.

with very big increases in APO and DOD orders since oct 07, and a very large group of new customers, it has been a scramble to get new staff hired, trained and working effectively to tackle the volume.

a new long over due ecommerce system is also underway with many new CS tools with a launch expected this May.

certain products may be available more quickly from other vendors right now.

the #1 priority to take care of the customer, once tad gets back up to speed later this spring, cs and fulfillment should get back to where it should be. :)
 
I stopped dealing with TAD Gear back in December of 2006. Their customer relations, shipping problems, and failure to advise of items on back order go back alot further than 4 months.
 
I have had similiar problems with TAD. No communication,delayed shipping,wrong item. Great stuff but lousy CS. A few years back they were awesome so ill wait a bit and see what happens.
 
I just completed an order and now am waiting for it to get to Aus. I have to say I was pretty impressed with their responses. All my emails were answered within 48hrs and they happily added an item to my order.
But from what I hear they were having some serious problems with all their new item releases. But over on USN they said the new website and its features are all coming along great.
 
The 2 times I have ordered from TAD went off without any issues. Honestly can't remember how long it took the items to ship as I've always ordered on the idea of as long as it gets to me in a reasonable time.

I have read that TAD is going through some growing pains & dealing with new employees that they're trying to get up to speed.
 
Oh, just FYI: recently I asked them if it'd be possible to process & ship my order for Predator Hardshell in such a way that I get it in 2 weeks (to Poland) as I needed it for a mountain trip. I received my hardshell not in 2 weeks but in 4 days or so! And I'm on the opposite side of the globe! That was cool :D
 
I recently ordered some survival sheaths and wound up with combat masters, I placed a call to them and had the correct ones in about 3 days with a return lable and bag to ship them back in. The slip-up is forgivable and their service was top rate. I will buy from them again. :thumbup:
