Anyone Else Snag a "First Production" Run BM531?

Got my shipping notice. I should have it in a few days. I'm really excited. Thanks to the forum member for posting this picture and explaining the First Production run to me.

Hadn't heard about the first production run. I do have an order in with my local distributor. What can you tell me about the first run? Does a standing order constitute a piece from the first production run or is there some other means to order from this run?
 
KW doesn't mention they are first production run limited as suggested in the other thread.
 
Sorry guys. I don't have those answers. All I know is that i wanted a new 531 in CF and someone mentioned that this dealer had them this morning. I paid standard pricing. Assuming I like this, I will get a standard issued 530 when they become available in a month or so.

Even better yet, you could prolly buy an unmarked blade for $25 plus shipping (I think they would do this...) as I've had a few blades swapped out; the best example is this one...I was given an M390 805-1101 heavily 'tatooed', and asked for and got a sterile blade, so I know it can be had...here it is:

Did I understand that you were able to buy an additional blade or did you have to trade in your blade to get the new one?
 
I don't see the writing on the blade as a big deal. Seems like a bigger deal to get the knife sooner rather than later. So congrats!

Sorry, I was having a small hissy-fit about the billboards. :) I would far prefer not having them on the blades...but I would also prefer if Benchmade would offer steels like M4 without coatings...just my plain vanilla preferences, and YMMV.

I really like the 530 and imagine the 531 would be just as nice for my uses. The ergos do not agree with everyone, though. I hope it works out for you. :thumbup:
 
Congrats on snagging that first run. I think using "first production" knives is pretty cool. Looking forward to your pics and impressions :thumbup:

The 531 is in carbon fiber. The 530 is in Grivory, which is supposed to be similar to Zytel.

I think I see the confusion. When I said that I'd get standard issue 530, I meant to say 531.

530 is a current product in Grivory.
531 is in pre-order and will be available in a month or two. It's based off the 530 but has a different blade and carbon fiber scales.

Sorry for the confusion.
