Anyone else still pine away for molded-clip Delicas?

How about dipping the metal clip into some of that plastic tool handle liquid? Could be renewed at will..

Now there's an idea! That would give the best of both worlds I guess. It would only need a thin coating to prevent any scratching, but give the advantages that the metal clip offers as already dicussed. Seem reasonable to me.

I don't miss the plastic clips a bit. My Endura's broke off on a dor jamb striker plate, and the smooth surface of the clip side allowed both a Delica and a Merlin to squirm out of my pockets.

The only plastic clip models I own now are a Dragonfly for air travel (if I don't want to put my Toad at risk), and one of the old black TiCarNi-coated Delicas. I'd love to see that coating reintroduced for the 98 models, especially for straight-edged blades.

I've owned both, and while each has it's points, I suppose I prefer the metal clips. This is simply because, although I have lost clips on those, I've never lost one of these knives. I have lost several of the old plastic clip knives, and broken one of those clips.

This is not a syllogism.

pas du tout. i love the metal clip, even down to the now-silvering edges. the modularity implied by the removeable (and thereby repairable) clip was a deciding factor in its purchase , cause i didnt want to put another $40 into a knife that would predicate its useful life on the elasticity of a strand of zytel. i can see where one might complain that the clip does indeed loosen more frequently than the prior integreal one did, but that's nothing a bit of soap on the threads wont stop, and besides, if the other loosens-it's over. just my opinion-anyone's entitled to their own

Had both and like the metal better. The only advantage to the old was the kindler/gentler contact with cars, furniture and the like. Lost an Endura and then had the rplacement Endura retrofitted after that clip broke off (on a door jamb).

How about a molder shield over a metal clip. The underside of the shield could be recessed to accomodate the top side of the clip and the entire affair would not be too bulky with proper design. That could be the best of both worlds.
