Anyone else worked with ivy wood?

I chopped off a big hunk of ivy and split it up into smaller slabs, left it near a heater in the shop (just wanted it to dry to see what it was like, wasn't too concerned about checking/cracking) and forgot about it. Then today, I needed a quick christmas present so I picked up an old pocket knife at the local flea market for $3 and cut out some ivy scales. It's quite blonde, almost white, but has some interesting figuring and patterns. Anyone else tried it?

Sorry for the picture quality, hope you can see what I'm talking about.

Never heard of anyone using it hows the hardness of it?

Also I have to ask, what kind of knife is that? :D

The outer wood is extremely soft (pretty much a second layer of bark) but if you get a big enough piece the inner wood is tough and reasonably hard. Similar to broadleaf maple, definitely usable. And I'm not quite sure, the mark is a little worn but appears to say 'Reimer' with Italy clearly stamped below.

Run that knife by the guys in the Traditional forum. They'll know what it is I bet. I like the whole thing. Great pick up and work.
