Anyone else's tip exposed on the GEC bull nose?

My #72 Stag Lockback has this same problem.
The tip sticks up pretty bad when closed and it catches on EVERYTHING.
Would be one of my favorites, but this just ruins it for me.
What should I use to file the kick if I don't have any files on hand? Diamond sharpeners? Or should I just go out and buy a file?

Use a wooden block or stick with a good flat, smooth face, with some medium/fine grit wet dry sandpaper wrapped around it, something like 400-800 grit. The sandpaper won't be so aggressive as to really damage your edge if you bump it, and the wood will be firm enough to do the light sanding required, also without the risk of crashing a heavy, hardened file into something you don't want dinged. Use light pressure (this helps to maintain control), and let the grit do the 'grunt work'. On the 1095 steel of your blade, the sandpaper will work pretty fast. Do a tiny bit at a time, and keep checking for the tip lowering, and also for clearance between the edge and the inside of the spring/lockbar/spacer.

For me the quickest and most comfortable way is to use my belt grinder. I don't worry about hitting anything I don't want and I feel I have more control. Once I finally got the gumption from a few on here its a mod I have no problems doing if it needs it.

My Geppetto whittler from GEC had the same problem, among several others. Sharp corners on every bolster, back of secondary blades sharp, main blade dull from the box. I'm done with GEC.
