Anyone ever test Chainmail socks?

Wasn't suggesting anyone should have to get chainmail socks, I was just thinking through their usefulness. I do not suggest anyone go without protective gear either, but I almost always do, it is simply lighter and allows me to stay more comfortable when limbing and felling.

However, sometimes I like to go fast, or try to, when bucking, and I don't think anyone will say it is without risks to do so. Even the best axemen in the world make mistakes, and doing so can mean making your toes shorter or longer. Or your foot, or even your leg.

Overall, this could be much easier on the body since one only has to wear them when bucking (or on dangerous terrain), while offering better protection than steel toes.

Not sure why so many seem bothered by this thread, I suppose their bucking ability must be unmatched. But for them I'll pass on a little useful knowledge, many serious woodsmen back in the day and to this day wore calks with tricouni nails. Of course, this is mainly for traction (safety sallys, Gasp!), but would certainly offer some protection from a bucking glance.
