Anyone familiar with the work of Herb Derr?

I must confess I haven't heard the name before - but I really like these reasonably-priced small damascus hunters of his..

Anybody here own or handled one of his knives?

I've admired some of his work at shows. Nice gentleman as well.
 
Saw a piece of his work at the B.A.K.C.A meeting last night.Great looking and the fit and finish and the Damascus was beautiful.

I cannot pass Herb's table at a knife show without buying at least
one knife; he is that good.His damascus,handles and sheaths are all
one-of-a-kind;a complete and unique package.
He is also a great guy to deal with.
 
I also love Herb's work. I got one last year at the show in MD. I almost got another one this year but someone beat me to it. The damascus is great. I really like the contrast.

I think one of my first posts, way back when was about Herb Derr. I was impressed with his work back then and his work still impressed me when I saw Herb last month at NYCKS. Herb puts together an excellent package, his own damascus, nice sheath work at a great price. There is no excuse as to why I don't own any of Herb's knives. :(
 
Agree totally with Phil - met him at Chesapeake a week ago - knives are REALLY REALLY nice! Unfortunately had already blown budget on knives that were delivered at show but will have to add his later. Definitely no excuse for not having any of his!
