Just curious if anyone has noticed any wear on the steel insert that acts as the lock face for this tremendous:) knife.

Let me go ahead and say that I have NOT noticed any wear and I have edc'd this knife, with the exception of 7-04, every day since I recieved it on 6-22-2011. I'm also curious as to how I can order more of the inserts. I did read that you can order them from the Lion Steel website, but I don't see a link there. Do I need to email a request? Anyone know the price of these? I just want to have a couple on hand for "just in case". Also contemplating getting a bronze model to go along with my violet one. These are some awesome knives and I absolutely love mine!:)

I think that metal piece will last just as long as the knife itself.

And in that price range, almost all knives are just as awesome and tremendous :)

I've had mine quite a while and haven't noticed the lock bar move any and its still just past 50% lockup. I'm sure since it is hardened steel it will last quite a bit longer than a titanium lock. I have the plain ti finish and I can't see any wear marks on the finish either. I did apparently drop it because there is one good size rough spot where something put a depression in the ti.

Mine must have one heck of a good heat treat because the Sleipner doesn't look all that impressive on paper but holds an edge as good as any other steel I have from what I can tell in use. I have M4, S90V, CTS-20CP, M390, ZDP, and I'm sure a few I'm forgetting and this holds a razor edge as good or better than the others. In fact I have only touched it up on a strop 3 or 4 times and its still popping hair better than just about every knife I have.

It's the most expensive knife I have and I'm really glad I got it. For the price you get a heck of a lot more knife than any other that I know off. It would be 2 or 3 times as expensive if made by some of the more popular makers.

Thanks for the response's guys. This knife is so well done that I'm thinking of another one. I never suspected that I would like it as much as I do and that it would be as nice as it is. The only other monoblock titanium knife I can think of is the custom from Scott Cook (?), at least I think the name is correct. Those knives take a few years to get and the cost is $1000+.

I'm sure the insert is going to last a long time, just that I'm sometimes anal about things and like to have a replacement. I guess I'm just an anal old fart.:D:thumbup::)

Anyone notice if the thing is a fingerprint magnet? I know it's similar to D2 in composition, but it doesn't seem as stain resistant as D2.

I have done absolutely nothing to guard against staining and I live in humid Florida, much of the time within a mile of the ocean. I have never seen the first sign of staining, much less rust. In normal use it is just as 'stainless' as any of my other stainless steels.

Also can't say it gets finger prints any more readily than other satin finished blades. And I definitely don't see prints on the ti handle.

Mine is rock solid as day 1. I edc it for nearly a year, about 50-60% of the time... it fights with my Military CPM M4 and my Para 2 S90V... well now my manix CTS 30 is here... never mind i am derailing the thread.

Yes mine is solid, i love it and i have seen zero wear. Its been perfectly stainless for me, no issues i can tell of. Sleipneir to me has been a great steel. Their HT must be great, its performing like my M4 mili... good stuff

Oh and no rust issues here in central florida and its disgusting humid weather.

I emailed Gianni and he said the replacement lock bar pieces are 5 Euros each, plus shipping. I plan on buying three and some of the teflon washers also but have not as yet. Sleipner is more stain resistant than D2.
