Elliot, are those 1 or two backsprings? the Winchester too, one or two?

Well, one of two Winchester patterns at the top of the page I referred to has squared bolsters as well if you take a look...

...In any case, it's a fine knife by Mr. Davis regardless of nomenclature.

Why not ask BRL his opinion (if you dare)? ;)

See you there!!:D

Here's mine. . . . . :p

. . . .but since there are two of said animals on the knife, I've elected to call it a meese knife.

:D

Thanks for all the great pictures... keep em coming!

Blues, does that Moore Maker sowbelly carry as nice as it looks?

Great pics in this thread!

does that Moore Maker sowbelly carry . . .

That brings up a good question: how do you guys carry the larger ones? The Moore Maker referenced here is 3-3/4" closed, which (along with the rounded bolsters) would make it a little more 'pocketable' than my large Case Stockman.

So, in reference to my question above, on the Case Moose's or meese or whatever the plural would be - :p. Shepherd Hills shows the Moose patterns at 4-1/2", 1/4" longer (closed) than my large CV Stockman I bought a couple years ago. I had to spend a bit of time working that Stockman into a more carryable piece; it just works as a pocketable knife, but only just. I held off on the Moose because of how big the Stockman was.

Is there a specific sheath made for the larger Moose & Bullhead patterns, or would one have to go with a custom? The ones I tried from A.G. were either too big, or way too tight.

Elliott - thanks for the definition.

thx - cpr

If I have a change pocket in my pants I will carry my knives there. I am carrying a Buck 501 (3 7/8") now and it is probably as large as I would like to go. without a change pocket I usually carry it flat in my back pocket. I think anything in the 4" or larger size I would use a sheath.

I carry my moose in the bottom of my left pocket just like the rest. It's just slightly more bulky to me then a reg. style/size trapper.

Hmmmm... one of those knives that has been on my want list forever but never seems to turn up when the time is right to pull the trigger. Heck I gotta get me one of those, after all what could be more Canadian than to carry a moose. Lord knows I've eaten enough of 'em.:D Nice knives all, you guys sure have a way of helping to get my wife mad at me.

My trapper is 4 1/4. I never liked anything over 3 5/8 in my pocket, but I got used to int in a short amount of time. it's like wearing a watch. You friek out when you don't have it.
