Leaving Sunday for a week of job training. Anyone know of good places to eat or places to go? I will be at the Holiday Inn Express near the airport.

The airport isn't near anything. If you go to Jack Stack, it's a baroque place, get the cheesey corn. Their brisket isn't bad either.

I second Jack Stacks and would recommend Oklahoma Joes... Long wait... But worth it... Was recently there for a conference

If your still there .
There's a RK gUNSHOW

I have been told that there is nothing like KC BBQ.

Going to find out. If I get there. The County gave us a 95 Capri Classic to use.
I am planning on starting a diary of the journey on my facebook page.

Gates, Arther Bryants, Oklahoma Joes, Woodyard, Quicks - great BBQ. I would rate Oklahoma Joes #1. Jack Stacks is a bit on the bland side for me. Julian, Story, and Voltaire down in the Bottoms are great places to eat. Julian is American comfort food with an award winning chef. Story is more upscale and Voltaire is just great - has an excellant bar as well.

Nelson-Atkins Art Museum - excellant collection. The Arabia Museum - really a must see - the Arabia steamboat sunk on the Missouri river 140 years ago, the river channel moved and the boat was buried. It was just recently excavated and the entire cargo - everything one would need to start a town, including an excellant collection of knives, have been cleaned and restored and is on display.

Oh, and by the way, score some World Series tickets - first game is at Kaufman Stadium on Tuesday. Head down to the Power and Light district for open air big screen TV and a wild party.

Not much into Baseball. I used to follow it til the strike in 95. Lost all interest in it after that.

Just got back from a BBQ place at the mall that is close by called Smokehouse BBQ. The BBQ was good, different from what is in E TN. I also had that stuff called cheesy corn,it was awesome. Going to check out Oklahoma Joes sometime this week. They were closed today.

Oklahoma Joe's is a must. Get the Z-man sandwich. Don't be put off by the line. The wait from inside the door is only 20 minutes. If you get there when they open at 11 AM there is not much of a line. The french fries are also really good. The side of fries is enough for 2 people. Anthony Bourdain put Oklahoma Joe's on his list of 13 places you should eat before you die. This list was from places around the world. Enjoy! Joe.

Most of the class is going tonight. I only ate a bag of chips for lunch so as to have room. Can someone local give me the address to the location closest to the airport?

Closest to the airport is about a 30 minute drive, maybe more depending on traffic.

Well you're in the area, checking out the Plaza district is worth the visit, if only to walk around.

Oklahoma Joe's sounds like my kinda place. If Anthony Bourdain recommends it I have got to go. Let us know how it is.
