Looks nice, but I've never had a use for a scaler, and I carry hemostats to get the hooks out. I carry the Puma on the left when I'm fishing.

I fish primarily for trout and don't need the scaler. The bottle opener is often handy on the longer trips. What model is the Puma? Looks interesting.

Edit: figured out what the Puma is. Nice bonker!

At first I was amped for this model. It's kinda cooled for me.

I still have my old Imperial fishing knife from when I was 7, and I picked up this Hammer Brand at the flea market for a few bucks last spring, so I guess that would be a no also.
Don't think I've ever taken the scales of with the scaler, just use the back of the blade.

Yep. I'm gonna get one. I've been looking for a good fishing knife for my son's birthday and that will do nicely.

Profile looks to be a Ben Hogan frame which I find a very useful blade. That hook disgorger tip appears to stick out quite a ways from the handle in that picture- hope it's not too sharp!

Always loved that Puma, been lookin' for one for a long time.

Yes, the Puma Waggemesser 501. My dad gave it to me years ago, I think someone gave it to him, but he didn't use it. It now lives in my fishing vest, and I'm sure I'd dive at least 20 feet down if I ever drop it in!

I like these. I hope they can keep the price within the range of the other F&F series. Between these, the Eurekas, and the other recent releases my knife budget is exhausted.

Does anyone know if they are 440C or 420?

That is so you can open it without using two hands, rake it off your pocket.

Not me. Nothing against the knife, but I usually fish for trout, usually do catch and release, have a good fileting knife and use hemostats for hook removal. Don't drink beer anymore either.

Maybe. I was thinking about buying a couple for some friends with a fish camp down in Chauvin, LA. If it's priced right, I might bite. It's not a very pretty knife though. I think the F&F Tools are good looking knives (for a utility type knife), but these not so much. They need a little more curve to them. They don't look like they'd be particularly comfortable to hold, but I'm only seeing the profile. I could be wrong.

More for me .... :D I'm just waiting for these to show up on my preferred BF vendors website - probably going to get three (one in each color). I'll let my son pick first, then my fishing buddy, and I'll take whichever one is left over. I may never use the scaler or cap opener - this has the one feature that I wanted as an improvement over my "regular" Ben Hogan ... a lanyard tube so that i can attach it to my fishing vest when I'm out on the water in a canoe or fishing kayak.

A possible mod I'm considering is milling shallow grooves in the covers to improve "wet" handling. I'm even considering turing the scaler into a light duty saw. I'm a big Hogan fan so this is a dream knife for me. I'm hoping it comes in around the price point of the other two blade farm & field folders.

It's very utilitarian in appearance, even for a Farm and Field. Still, at that if the fit and finish is on the money it could be great for an avid fisherman, I've got little use for scalers though, and carry a set of pliers. I still would like to get one though.

Anybody know when these are going to be available? I dug around a bit on the GEC website but couldn't find anything. Anybody know what the usual time lag is between being featured on the cover of their e-zine and showing up on the vendors shelves?
