Berry seeds and hair - - I'm thinking coyote , but possibly small bear?

Sorry its not the best picture.

Squirrel with a side order of black berries ? Bears like both !

Assuming that is a recent picture, it is far too early for blackberries.

This is from last season. I was going through some photos and found this one and remember I forgot to ask about it last summer.

They are blackberries, or at least I assume since I found it while picking blackberries.

Not to get to technical here, but do you remember the dimensions? I was thinking coyote also since they will eat berries or maybe raccoon.

If you were really hurting for food, you could take the blackberry seeds cook them, then mill them with a rock or something so you digest them.
What ever animal dropped that did the gathering for you... considerate :)

I was thinking the same thing. I routinely find coyote scat here with a mix of berry seeds, persimmon seeds, and fir.

looks like bear to me, the coyote scat I usually see if full of hare, pun intended.

Of course that depends on what's available. One year there was a bear in the next county, he raided only the garbage of Italian restaurants !!

I was going to say that the mods for General would be able to easily identify scat.....

I would vote a small bear, coyote, as has been mentioned, is more dog-like in form.

Raccoon is similar, but not usually that sizeable.

I don't know what it is, but be careful when grinding. It looks to contain asbestos.

I saw a coyote last week with no tail. But I've never seen one with an anus that big. Even if rained on (probable), that looks to me like bear poop.

That is bear scat, coyote will take a dump on a rock or log and will look like a domestic dog scat with hair and small bone fragments.
