Anyone good at IDing scat?

Bear for sure.

Is it wrong that this is the most interesting thread I've seen on here today?

If in bear country, carry bear pepper spray and tie a bell to your shoelaces to alert bears to your presence.

And know your bear scat.

Black bear scat is small and has berries and twigs.

Grizzly bear scat is larger, has little bells and shoelaces in it, and smells like pepper spray.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I'm surprised that the conclusion was Bear because I checked the Georgia Outdoor Network (GON) forum for bear reports from hunters, and in that WMA no one's seen anything the past couple of seasons.

But good to know, I've always wanted to see a bear in the wild

Young bears can be quite nomadic seeking out their own territories for food, shelter and mating. Mom only lets them stick around just so long.

Don't the boars kill cubs so that the female goes back into estrus ? A way for them to pass their own genes down I suppose.

No idea. Yogi and BooBoo never imparted that information to me when they swiped my pickanit baskit

:D :D

And Coyote smells like rabbit but tastes like chicken. :D

Well I think bear is the proper guess.

This picture was taken today not far from the same spot.

sorry for the bad photo but it was high sun with little shadows.

I would say scat and prints seen 1 year apart in relatively the same location leads me to believe we have a resident. Pretty big paws too.
