YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOUCHDoes this count? My Forsaken Mistress has become our defacto campfire wood tool for the last handful of years. I just touched it up a couple weeks ago, the belly was getting pretty dinged up from all the use. My son learned how to baton firewood when he was pretty little (just graduated high school, man they grow up fast!), and has been doing it for probably 6-8 years now.
We were up in the mountains early last week, and late one evening he was splitting some hardwood we'd brought from the Maple tree in the yard, when I heard a yelp, and when both my wife and I looked over, he had a look on his face... "How bad is it?" were the first words out of my mouth. Seeing all the blood dripping everywhere, I already knew the answer...![]()
He was doing something stupid, I'm not totally sure what, and he nearly filleted the meat/pad off of his right thumb. An hour trip (each way) to the nearest ER and they got it all stitched up and glued back together...
And our trip got cut short. Boo.
Warning, gore pictures attached. Don't click the "spoiler" button if you're squeamish!
Doctors/nurses all commented on how clean the cut was...
(but don't get me started on the "What kind of knife was it? type of BS questions...)

Those are magnificent little bladesI forgot the right tool or did I
That is one helluva piece of SR101!I found this old copper bucket, perfect for kindling. Decided to test out the Cookie Thumper I made. It worked well. Once it's face gets more beat up, I'll cut that part out and glue a new one in there...To bad I can't do that with my ugly Mug!!!
Gotta Love that WTF!!!

Wow! Hey Rick!!Holy shit Paul!! You wouldn't believe it but my wife and I were watching a documentary on this hurricane on Discovery just last night and I mentioned you, and how I know you and your family made it out alive, but haven't heard from you in many months.
I checked the Spyderco forum and then here, out of curiosity to see if you've been around. So happy to have seen you posted just today. I truly hope for the best for you, your family and community. I miss you man!!
