I think the question was not about the Spyderco ATR, but the Boker AFD, which was called ATF before. When Boker presented the Knife at a knifeshow, they noticed the name´s similarity to the BATF, and so they changed the name before the knife release to "AFD" (Advanced Folding Dagger").
It has a little odd proportions, but that´s the price for a handle which is designed to hide the blade completely to give you a save handling even if the blade spine is sharpened, too.
It´s not one of my favorites, and the blade geometry doesn´t make it a great EDC, I think. But nevertheles it´s an interesting knife.
The AK74 (which I own) is another thing.
I wrote a review about it in a German Knife Forum, so if anybody can read German,
HERE is the link.
It´s a great knife with a really big handle which fills a hand quite good, and the blade makes it a useful EDC, too.
A MT SOCOM doesn´t look very big next to it.
The liner is ok, no blade wobble, and the quality seems really good.
And for there were some minor things which weren´t optimum at the first edition, they´ve made some changes already.
The G10 (which had been not so good) is now nice and with a good grip, and the blade serrations are improved. The blade serrations from the first version were a bit dull.
But one thing I still don´t like is the "sharpness" of the gripzone in the choil for the index finger.
The upper scale has a groove (or ramp) tho provide easy access to the thumb stud for opening, and the grip zone for the index finger at that point is really a little bit to much of an edge.
It feels a little like a dull saw, and I can´t imagine that it is comfortable to work with it for a longer time, for it really bites your finger.
I handled more than one of these knives so far, and they were the same at this point.
You can see this grip zone on this pic (the narrow part of the upper scale):
However, it´s a good knife, but I would recommend to give it a try with it´s handle before buying.
