Anyone have a Benchmade Rant bowie or droppoint?

I have to bring this thread back to life, I am looking very hard at getting one of these new USA made 10502 in drop point. I wonder how the tang looks, weither its a full tang or if it narrows substantially under the grip. Anyone know how large the tang is on the new USA made models?? I think this should be a good fixed blade belt knife for camping/hiking/canoeing/hunting/dressing game, the price is right thats for sure!!

I have the old taiwan made version in Bowie, and it's awesome. I like the BILT system on it a lot. I wonder why they quit making that on the new ones, as well as the new CSKs.

I picked one up a couple years ago that has the N690 Alloy blade. I got it so that I could compare how it worked compared to a Buck Vanguard. This knife is roughly the same design as a Vanguard. The blade has a thinner hollow grind than the Vanguard and I consider it less robust. I find the handle less comfortable than the Vanguard, in fact mine is kind of painful if gripped tightly.

If you like the general design I would also take a look at the Buck. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10693

I am trying to find out what the tangs look like on these knives!! What does the tang look like on the Buck Vanguard compare to the new USA made Benchmade Rant Droppoint 10502??? Full tangs, half tangs, slim tangs????

They look great. I love 440c. My oldest worker (retired) was 440c and it did me well in the bush. Budget permitting a maybe, but I have two other Benchmades on my shopping list, Switch blade and Bali my wife will alow me to buy as I can't make them.

Are both the tangs on the Benchmade and Buck full tangs that carry all the way to the end of the handle?

I think unless someone was willing to cut the Santoprene handle off, they may have a hard time answering. Without doing that, my Rant looks to be a full width tang or just under. You might want to contact Benchmade and ask them.
